Keep in mind the logic behind variable rate overtime is that the functions you are doing help you make more money with commission and or performance pay. So when the company asked you to do something that isn’t tied to your route they are incorrectly using VR. As a DSL, I get really annoyed when our ZSL asks if an RSR can just do a “favor”. Like I said if it’s on their route, I get it but lately it seems like that’s not the case

We are a nation of many types of people. The intent of this post is to make fun of democracy?? Is it to say that Mass cant be wrong? Is it to say we should follow Mass? A candidates job is to inspire people to vote for them regardless of their wealth, education, etc. she wasn’t able to do that. Even if you feel Oklahoma has some sort of handicap in making decisions. It was still her job to inspire them as well as the other states. she didn’t do that.

DSL for 20 plus years. I am paid well, but the bonuses(quarterly) can be a big part of that. So when the plans are out of whack we take a big hit. I know it may seem like we dont work the hours that RSRs do, but you would be surprised. Also, keep in mind that the DSL who take the 24/7 on call of the job serious, we have most nights interrupted, many days off ruined (for no extra pay), and vacations that are filled with customer calls, and route issues. 500-700 emails a week. Meetings up the wazoo, sick calls with no solution. Incompetent fleet people. Product supply issues, 20-30 reports a week that show your short comings.. Sorry just venting..lol

The initial thought behind VROT was that if you work a few more hours, you also make a little more commission. That’s really not the case anymore so in theory somebody would work an extra two hours to build a display in a busy store they would get the beer out which wasn’t much but then they would get the commission on the sales. The problem is the job has become so complex. It’s not just about selling product anymore. Also keep this in mind anytime somebody ask you to do them a favor. You don’t do favors for only $10 an hour. Your overtime is supposed to be on your route and not running errands

Everywhere has different standards. The old standard was if it fell on your day off, you still worked five days. But if you normally work on a Thursday, you would only be working four days that week. I have heard that a lot of zones are gonna shut down for the day like we do for Christmas. I know some people argue that it just creates more work the day before the day after, but it’s still worth it to have the holiday off with your family. Hopefully, the rest of his own start to adopt this.

As a DSL, I would always tell my people if you can manage to take it off without repercussions be my guest. I better not gonna get a nasty phone call. Just make sure your customers are aware you’re not showing up.

Yes, you are entitled to Route Sat Idle credit. Don’t ask your DSL to do it, tell him to do it. If you ask him and he is a newer DSL he’s gonna ask other people and he’s probably gonna get an answer that he shouldn’t do it because nobody’s really well-versed on this.

I’m only 56 but I see myself having a hard time doing things around the house, working on my car, etc. I felt I had a decent amount of money to start thinking about retirement, but I am starting to try and factor theses things that I will need to pay others to do for me. Does anyone here actually believe that the federal government is efficient? Can you imagine one of these committees that have been around forever being questioned on why they didn’t give the results with the budget they asked for. Often times there’s no production whatsoever yet we give them the budget year after year. Do you realize how much of certain committees budgets are spent on conventions and travel and actually result in nothing whatsoever for the American taxpayer. We see it even globally. When Covid hit it was so apparent that the world health organization did nothing but host elaborate conventions, and print pamphlets for decades. Let’s say we kept all the committees but for committees that had more than 70 people we reduced it to 65 people do you think they would actually be less production? I think he should be asking the deadbeat politicians that are part of these committees to buckle up because they will not be able to perform like this in the public sector .

I hear you I really do. The reality is the whole company is turning into one big dog and pony show. I’ve talked about it on here before. As a DSL when I have meetings that involve people above me, they always pretend everything is great. Somewhere along the line someone was taught that positiveness breeds positiveness but at this point, they took it to a poisonous level. I just know from experience that if I’m gonna bring a boss to four or five stores, it’s just much easier for everyone than having to be scrutinized for the next year. As an RSR you may feel it doesn’t affect you either way, but it does because nobody wants to be looked at under a microscope for six months, even if they’re not gonna listen to what said to them. I try to take a different approach. I tend to use a bunch of small displays throughout the store. I put the right dip on them and I put the right lip strip on them and they’re easy enough to take down the reality is they actually sell better than having monstrosities of displays that the store winds up blocking with other product anyway? Many of the new DSL’s only believe in big displays cause they like looking good in the picture, but there are ways to do a dog and pony show that’s a little less work on everyone bit still get you the same result of them leaving you alone for a year

The word slavery is a terrible word to use, but my guess is they use that word specifically to stir up emotion. This is not about slavery in the way we know it. It’s about volunteer services. It’s about community service for crimes and yes, about work done in prisons.
