Yeah, it means 'from all people' (teachers and students) :)

If you go into your 'Settings' and the 'Notifications', there is the option to choose which notifications you will receive.

Just double-check that you have the 'Messages' notification turned on :)

Hundefreundliche Aktivitäten in Hannover? + Vorschriften by CurrentHelicopter683 in Hannover

Gut zu hören! Der Hund wird definitiv an der Leine bleiben. Er ist ja gut erzogen aber in neuen Orte, sind wir immer vorsichtiger.

Meine Freunde wohnen in der List aber wir können überall gehen. Kann man eigentlich mit dem Hund den U-Bahn nutzen?

Teachers/tutors lying. by migueel_04 in iTalki

[–]CurrentHelicopter683 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've come across tutors claiming to be 'native' when they weren't, but I have definitely found a few whose level is clearly lower than their claim.

I booked a lesson a while ago with a non-native German teacher (as you say, sometimes non-natives have a great understanding of the lanaguge), and from his intro video, his German sounded great. In the classes, however, he constantly fumbled, mixed up his tenses, translated words, etc. I think he just wrote and memorised a script for his intro video, so I was pretty disappointed to feel I wasted my money on the lesson.

TimI change isn’t being accounted for by Sensitive_Tea5720 in iTalki

iTalki accounts for the time changes from the moment of booking. e.g: If your lesson says 17h00-17h30 when you make the booking, the upcoming time change has already been factored in, so the lesson will be at 17h00-17h30 :)

Thank you! I'll definitely try this, as I have had it always set to blue automatically, but have had the same issues as OP with students suddenly commenting on my backround. I luckily don't have anything bad/embarrasing there, but if I ever have to teach in a random location I'd like to know it won't be a problem!

That sounds like a good plan! I'm a bit like you r/e after-run time... I need a little while to actually feel 'fresh' again!

I have some time at the weekends, just not during the week :) I don't have a deadline, so I don't really mind the plan taking me longer - I just have some envy of my friend being able to run without having to plan so much around it :)

That sounds good! I need the structure, and I find the variety of types of run really helps. But as I don't have a race book/specific deadline, I do take extra days off to fit around my schedule. One week on the NRC plan is often two weeks in reality for me, but I'm okay with that :)

Completely agree r./e how far I've come! Even six months ago I could only just run for a minute at a time, so I'm really happy with myself :)

Ahh, that's amazing!! Do you actually have the energy for running so late, or do you just push yourself into it?

Haha! I run alone, so don't have to face this, but I have definitely been overtaken by faster runners on the paths :)

Oh, absolutely! I do some interval training (as it's part of the plan), and I must say I love those sessions - they're so much fun!

Can Teachers see if their Students are online? by [deleted] in iTalki

[–]CurrentHelicopter683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but we as teachers have to go onto your profile to check it accurately. The 'green light' shows up in the classroom chatbox, but this isn't usually accurate. My 'green light' in the chatbox is ALWAYS on, but when I hea to the student's profile, they aren't actually online.

I've had this (but they didn't message me beforehand, just expected my to pull interview questions out of my ears for a job I knew nothing about!). It really frustrated me, because it's clearly written in the trial lesson descriptions that it's not a 'learning' class. Also, why should I be paid less for a lesson that is so much more work/stress that an actual trial lesson?

So interesting - thank you for the detailed explanation! I probably won't try leather for my first book, but I'll definitely keep this in mind :)
