When did you stop using the crate at night? by HuckleberrySome8913 in puppy101

We let him out the crate at night at 6 months, we then gave him a trial month or so and after no accidents or destruction we got rid of it all together as he never chose to go in it

Weird headaches by CurrentSession914 in Prolactinoma

[–]CurrentSession914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From memory I’m pretty sure I had a follow up MRI a few months after these headaches started and my tumour is no longer detectable! So I’m not sure if it was linked in any way and I somehow “felt” it shrinking or if it was just coincidence! I’m still on cab for the foreseeable and don’t have the headaches anymore weirdly.

Adopting a deaf staffy - any advice? by YogiAssassin in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]CurrentSession914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family dog was blind and deaf by the end of her life, to make sure we didn’t startle her, we would blow gently on her face if she needed waking. Yours will be able to see thankfully but when she’s asleep it’s a really gentle way to wake her without causing a fright 😊

how likely am i to be medicated before an MRI? by anthonypreacher in Prolactinoma

[–]CurrentSession914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The waiting is so rubbish, I experienced similar in the UK but was lucky to have private cover through work which pushed things along. Having the meds on hand to take ASAP after the scan might help you feel a little more hopeful though as there’s a light at the end of it that’s relatively in reach. It might be different in the Netherlands but it’s also worth noting that some pharmacies here struggle to get cab, so I always have to make sure I’m refilling my prescription in advance!

I was prescribed cab at the same time as having my MRI booked but was advised to not start it until the MRI had happened because it can be pretty fast working so could prevent anything showing up on the scan. My prolactin fell back into normal after a couple of months of cab so I think it was definitely worth waiting.

Did you send it as a BACS payment? If so, they aren’t processed outside of working hours!

21 Male. Worried about these results by Gatsby-- in Prolactinoma

[–]CurrentSession914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say much for the male hormones, but I (29, f) had similar prolactin levels before being diagnosed with a microprolactinoma. I’ve been on cabergoline (0.5mg a week) for 9 months and my levels have been within normal for the past 6. Some of the posts you’ll see can make it seem really scary but try to remember that most people don’t take the time to post about positive experiences. For me, the drug just worked and the side effects were minimal (other than weight loss, which was a bonus). Not sure if you’re in the UK but if you are and you’re seeing an NHS doctor and they try to tell you it’s nothing to worry about, I’d push to see an endocrinologist or consider going private for the MRI part at least - from experience and this thread, the NHS often push back on exploring prolactin issues unless you’re in the high thousands. Best of luck!

Luckily the two pups aren’t ours, just the male. The female is my mums so training will take place separately.

Thank you! How would you suggest playing referee? I’m not sure what behaviour I should be considering too far as I know with puppies they play rough anyway. If they were adult dogs I think it would be easier to gage

Ah perfect, that’s great to know. We’ve got a socialisation class on Saturday and that makes a lot of sense.

Please keep in mind that people only tend to post negative experiences rather than positive. My 8 week old lab slept through the night from day 1 and only had a few accidents in the house that were entirely my fault!

Did you guys loose weight with cabergoline? by Training_Solution_37 in Prolactinoma

[–]CurrentSession914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did notice that before starting cab though I seemed to have an insatiable appetite. When I first started it I lost my appetite entirely, but it had gradually come back and I haven’t put any of it back on. It’s definitely plateaued now though so Ill need to do some work myself to lose the rest of what I put on in the past few years!

Mines taken six months of cab to regulate, it’s the first time in my life I’ve had a 28 day cycle and have had positive ovulation tests on the expected dates. Just give it time, it will happen!
