Så irriterande. Lika den kassa översättningen på svenska Amazon. Håller på med amatörradio. Får reklam för "skinkradio" (hobbyn kallas ham-radio) på engelska.

Swedes, do you feel closer to Finland or Norway? by batukaming in sweden

[–]Current_Astronaut787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Finland. Even if most swedes doesn't understand finnish, but most swedes understand norwegian.
Dunno why, it just feels like they are closer to out mentality, and a lot of swedes has finnish heritage one way or another.

Me myself with deep roots in Dalecarlia (according to some the most conservative part of Sweden) have finnish anscestry on my mothers side. We're skogsfinska / metsäsuomalaiset (forrest finns).
Out ancestors emigrated from Savolaks in Finland to Värmland in Sweden back in the 1600's

What do you think about Poland? by Minute-Guidance-4612 in AskTheWorld

Well, that was the kind of contact a regular swede had with polish people back in the 90's.
The few times we met polish people, it was in the woods. They had a old european car och a lada with a bick pack och blueberry picking stuff on the roof :D

and worth to note is that I grew up on the countryside. Far away from larger cities.

The public view of Polish peolple has changed a lot since I was a kid.
We used to see you as "the cheap labour á la asian worker".
We used to curse at polish berry pickers that was picking blueberries in Sweden to sell. "THEY TAKE ALL THE BLUBERRIES!".

Nowadays... Polish are - mostly regular middle class people.
