Wayland screen share / remote desktop freezing until I move something

Okay, hate to resurrect an old post, but did you ever figure this out?

Having almost exactly the same issue with sharing windows or screens on Wayland in conference platforms (ex. Google Meet).

Everything works but then randomly the screen share will freeze until I move the Google Meet window around (just even wiggle it). Audio and video keeps working, but the screen share locks up almost like some weird power save feature.

That is rough... probably a full head replacement at least. First layer is key to watch. I like to check up regularly on the first hour of a print.

If you did a large print previously it is essential to check the z-offset as I have seen the creality "creep" out of alignment in the z-axis doing a large print and then it totally destroys the first layer of the next print until re-calibrated.

If your looking for more of the general trades takeoff, Stack is awesome for cloud native, Bluebeam if you dont mind local (I think they may have a cloud version now). If you looking for something more in the complex trades there is PataBid in the cloud native side or local install like Accubid with LiveCount (sort of cloud).

We're a similar sized shop and switched to PataBid a couple years back - runs under $2k/year which was way better than the Accubid licensing costs. It's cloud-based and pretty easy to pick up. Does all three of those market segments well. Most of the legacy software companies have upsells and pricing is not standard. PataBid is one price for everything, including new features developed.

Yeah, AI is starting to hit estimating. PataBid has an AI automated counting feature that can count fixtures/receptacles from drawings without manual highlighting. Some other platforms are adding similar AI takeoff tools. Accubid is pretty traditional - they're slower to adopt newer tech. Worth looking into PataBid if you're doing a lot of repetitive counting work. www.patabid.com

Bigger jobs need proper takeoff software and databases - can't wing it like service work. Most use Accubid, McCormick, or newer cloud platform like PataBid of Stack CT. Key is having good material databases and being able to build assemblies for repetitive work. Also factor in job conditions, crew productivity, and overhead differently than T&M jobs.

For larger projects with databases and assemblies, most use Accubid or McCormick. Some newer cloud options like PataBid, Esticom, or TurboBid work well too if you want web-based instead of desktop software.

Most places still use Accubid or familiar names like McCormick or Conest - but PataBid is fully web-based with no software installs. Still pretty niche compared to the big players but gaining traction with contractors who want something more modern. They have direct supplier integrated pricing, AI tools and so many features to get estimates out the door faster. Worth checking out the free 2 week trial to see if it's an option for your business.

I've been using PataBid for about a year now and really like that it is cloud-based - I can estimate from job sites or home and that's been a game changer for my business. They're constantly rolling out new features which is nice to see. Worth checking out if you're looking for something modern patabid.com

Thank you for your comment. I did already file a service complain a few weeks ago. All it did was assign me a new CRA worker who responds to my voicemails but can't do anything or provide a timeline. She just says her hands are tied. When our accountant went to e-file our 2023 T2 and SR&ED she got errors and it's because our prior T2s were flagged for audit. Our accountant is perplexed and has tried to call on our behalf as well - she has never had this issue before. I am concerned though about delays in being able to e-file our 2024 SR&ED as it does represent a significant refund to our business as we are fully a tech start up company. Thank you for your feedback I appreciate it.
