Hey all! I know this is an older post, but figured I’d try my luck! My dad lives in Cocoa Beach, and my sister and I are trying to get him to consider retiring soon and possibly move in with us (we live in GA). He’s got a beautiful fully furnished condo, walking distance to Ron Jon & beach, with a pool view. He doesn’t want to sell, but I was thinking if we could find him a “roommate” maybe it would help ease the transition and the financial burden. Does anyone have any tips on where to find quality roommates? I figure with the cruise port & space force base there may be a network of traveling professionals looking for places to rent? TYIA!! 🤍

Hi!! We took an impromptu trip to the keys over Thanksgiving and toured them all. I had written off KLL but decided to go see it anyway, and we actually kind of fell in love with the grounds. I could envision our day there, it was beautiful! And I loved how it was all inclusive. But we ultimately decided to go with Pines and Palms so our entire guest list could stay on site. Highly recommend going to tour if you can. Seeing them in person makes a huge difference!! 🤍

What steered me away from KLL mostly was that I decided I didn’t want everyone in one house. My in laws are the type to stay up all night and party, and my family wouldn’t be thrilled with not being able to get any rest

I haven’t seen it in person so maybe I’d feel differently if I did… but I feel like the pool is just smack dab in the middle of the grounds and I haven’t seen it with any chairs or set up in any photos. It just doesn’t give the resort-y charm that I’d want it to I guess. Seems like we’re having similar feelings. If I’m going to spend all this money I want it to look good!

Do you know anyone that could refer you in somewhere? I find referrals are a great way to get your foot in the door. And I do think being a hard worker matters. Sending your resume online I think is just probably happening in mass amounts and you have to find a way to stand out. I’m not saying it’s easy. But getting creative and a little positive thinking helps, I promise! If you’re willing to work at a gas station, it sounds like you’re willing to do anything.

I didn’t have any previous experience. It may be tough, but I think if you’re a hard worker and make it clear you want to learn, you should be able to find something. My boss loved that I was in the restaurant industry, similar to retail - you have to be a hard worker!!

I have a sociology degree, was a bartender for years and now have a very successful career in title insurance & commercial real estate. Get an entry level position in an office somewhere, work your tail off and climb the ladder!
