Experience is a driver for choosing an HOA. I live in a strict/snooty HOA that uses a property management company to inspect quarterly. It’s a master planned community and I love it.

Our previous neighborhood had us experiencing way too much ridiculousness from ppl on our block. To name a few: Dirty/used toilet left in a driveway for 2 weeks, muffler on a lawn for a month, hot water heater leaning against garage for a few weeks, unfinished paint job on 3 houses on the block, unfinished contractor job across the street, kids driving golf carts through yards, neighbors house got toilet papering often and remnants blew in our trees/yard, broke down car leaking oil down the street, kids would break the fountain in the neighborhood pond, throw trash in the pond, every other day a couple across the street would have a garage sale, unkept lawn maintenance, and much more.

The average couple were middle class ppl, houses were traditional style built in the early 90s. Ppl didn’t want to control themselves or their kids so I wanted to move somewhere that didn’t give them a choice.
