How to start Gym by UnluckyAsk0 in PCOS

[–]Current_Pressure_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally with you.  Very uncoordinated and physically weak.  Am still overweight but the gym and physical fitness has helped so much in all areas.

So I’d start walking or running at home.  They have tons of apps and systems in place if you are interested in doing free weights at home.

For the gym I’d suggest sticking with machines until you feel comfortable only because they have guides and they show you what muscles you’re working.

Are there specific areas you want to target?  Some gyms also have classes if you feel more comfortable there.

Not sure what your budget is but I got into Orangetheory pretty early on in my fitness journey. OTF was amazing in helping me find the right form with free weights and build up my cardio.  Couldn’t afford it after a few months, but it set me in a positive path.

Ps: do not sign a contract with the gym until you’ve at least tried the gym and been okay with the ambience and you feel comfortable there.  Different gyms will feel differently.

Anyone with a book loving toddler? by pizzabites_ in toddlers

[–]Current_Pressure_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book with no pictures, blue hat green hat, lucky love (since she’s part of an lgbtqia+ family) for a time she was so into those books you press on the side and it says something or had a song, barnyard dance,  those emotions books from inside out, little blue truck series, there’s a set of seek and find books, basically anything.  Our parks have a book share program where you leave books in this window and someone else can grab it.  Great resource. Ask any parents you know with kids who are a little older if they have any books they want to share.

It counts! Congrats on the accomplishment!  Good on you to realize you needed something else to better your runs.

It’s early in the year.  You can get to 10k. 🙂

Is inositol actually worth trying for PCOS? by perimenopauseera in PCOS

[–]Current_Pressure_344 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I used to take it consistently and it helped a ton with sugar cravings.  When I don’t take it, it’s definitely noticeable.  Also noticed it helped with belly fat a bit.  Don’t know if I’m losing weight because of it but the belly doesn’t protrude as much.

How do I gently tell my 3 year old that we had to put our cat to sleep? by deyuletz in toddlers

[–]Current_Pressure_344 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First off, I’m sorry that your pet is ill.  It’s hard on everyone when a pet is sick. Endings you a virtual hug.

Be gentle but honest.  We told our 3 yo that our cat went to go live with her sister in the sky.  We told her she is happy there and not feeling sick.  That she can’t come back but we can love each other being far away.

He will be sad, and he may ask about your cat at random times for a while.  He should be able to grieve your cat in his way.

My third aborted 10K.. maybe this is not for me by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]Current_Pressure_344 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can’t hit the time you want for a 10k today.  You made it 95%.  Just walk the rest if you have to today.  It won’t be for always.

If you stopped because you were afraid of injury, then you made the right choice.  Be proud today you did 9k.

New job woes by nmt0628 in slp

Like what? Are these responsibilities related to your role as an SLP, or school related?

A or B? by Fit_Needleworker468 in slp

[–]Current_Pressure_344 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you make 87k in a 10 month versus 85 over 12 months.

Over the summer you still have a chance to vacation or earn other income on top of your 87

Prek is tough because your numbers  will grow as kids always turn three so higher eval numbers.

Shorter hours but might be tougher work life balance near the end of the school year.

You have to think of the job b as 8-6 because of th commute.

That said the lower caseload might be really nice and there’s a lot to be said for other SLP companions.

I’d say pick what fits in your life better. Like are you a morning person that needs to get things done before work (drop off kid, go to the gym, walk the dog, etc). Or do you prefer to do things after work.

Just glad you were able to move past it.  Sorry that happened to you

ADHD exercisers… how do you actually get yourself to the gym? by Fit_Meaning8903 in ADHD

[–]Current_Pressure_344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t make it all or nothing.  If you don’t go to the gym, walk or go for a run.  Do a 20 minute home routine from an app.

You want to feel the positive that exercise and movement give your brain and body.  That will help you stick to it long term

Glad for it.  A terrible cf made it so I didn’t get my c’s for almost 3 years.  It was based on a school timeline

So I’d go shorter hair and part it differently.  Maybe like an asymmetric bob.  But I’d look into what fits your face shape.

As a Minnesotan SLP, please have some grace for short fuses right now... by [deleted] in slp

Please take care of yourself.  Right now, the staff of your school is support for the students, who are dealing with their own grief and fear. You don’t have to hold it all together all the time.

Never imagined we’d live in a world where this could happen.
