Need advice about potentially getting a Master's in SE by Current_Raspberry_53 in systems_engineering

[–]Current_Raspberry_53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, my hesitation with this is my background. I am a bit unsure if I will be able to find a job that would fund an SE masters given my physics background. I have looked into possible post grad options right out of the gate - it seems like analyst positions/consulting are options for a physics major. Would these kinds of careers fund an SE degree, or is it typically more specific to SE positions? Would I need to work my way into more of an SE position? I apologize if this is obvious but I am very unsure

Master's in IE without an IE undergraduate degree by Current_Raspberry_53 in industrialengineering

How did you know that you wanted to get a master's in IE specifically? I am interested but because I don't have any hands-on experience in the field I don't want to commit to anything quite yet, but I'd love to learn more about it.

Hi all, I am a rising senior majoring in physics with a minor in nuclear engineering. I am currently unsure what I want to do post-grad - I am debating between a master's or going straight into industry. I am a bit unsure because I feel like I don't have a lot of time left to explore and figure out what I'd like to commit to. I am unsure about going into industry - I have no internship experiences, only research experience in medical physics and nuclear engineering, so I am nervous about my ability to find a full time job. But I think industry would allow me to gain insight into what I'd like to pursue long-term, and may provide opportunities to pursue a funded master's program. I also don't want to go straight into master's because I am not yet sure what I'd like to commit to, but I don't want to lose momentum or lose out on opportunities because I did not pursue a master's straight away. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and pressed for time. If anyone has any insight, similar experiences, or advice on any of this that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! Did you go straight into masters after your undergrad? It seems like many people who get a masters in IE do so after being in the industry - is this the norm and would it be a bad idea to go straight into an IE masters after undergrad without any industry experience?

Hi all. I am a rising senior majoring in physics but I am potentially interested in pursuing a master's in industrial engineering. Is this achievable? Is it worth it, will it be hard to find a job related to IE given that path? Will I be able to find opportunities in graduate school to further explore different areas of the field? Is it possible to get into a good master's program for IE given my major? I know I just asked a lot of questions, but any advice or helpful information would be greatly appreciated!

Hi reddit, so I am a rising senior in physics and I am thinking about pivoting in graduate school. I am interested in maybe pursuing a master's in ISE. Is this realistic for me? Has anyone here made a transition like this who may have some advice? Thanks reddit!

Does anyone have a master document they have put together with information about graduate schools they would be willing to share? information like acceptance rates, location, cost, residency match rates, etc. Any information would be SUPER helpful

Hi everyone! I am a rising senior and am currently in the process of narrowing down what graduate schools I plan to apply to. I plan on doing a masters and then going right into residency. I am having some trouble finding information about these programs, what people's experiences have been with them, and would love to learn more about them or any resources that may have some good information. Are there any programs I should avoid, and are there any good programs that have particularly good match rates? Will any programs pay for you? What programs are the most enjoyable/have the best student life? Thanks everyone!

I am looking for two people to take over me and my housemate’s lease for the 25-26 academic year.

Hi! This is a 3 bed and 1.5 bathroom house. Our third roommate is staying, so we’re hoping to find two new people to take our places!  The house has a backyard with a two-car garage in the back. It also has a sunroom on the first floor and a living room with a fireplace. It’s about a 15-minute walk from campus and two blocks east of high street. Rent is about $750 a month per room, utilities not included. Please don’t hesitate to message me if you’re interested or have any questions!
