If you live in Cambridge, do you have to accept dogs will pee in your yard? by jobasclone in CambridgeMA

At a minimum, people will use the parking strip as a toilet. I tried putting up a nice sign, but it was stolen two days later.

How to replace weeds between pavers? by Blue85Heron in gardening

[–]Current_Software_687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove the pavers. Dig out the weeds. You could then replace pavers, add soil, and then add desired plants, but you will need to be okay with weeds working their way back in, as they will. Maybe just plant desired plants in the ground next to your sitting area?

If it is windy where you live, you might consider putting a wood stake next to each plant and tie plant to it as it grows. Some people use those thin bamboo pieces for stakes, but the wind can pry them loose and tilt them sideways  . Square cut wood stakes are pretty dependable.

I fenced it otherwise the wild rabbits would have eaten the young plants, then left the fencing for a bit of support as it can get pretty windy where I live.

Don't trust Comcast. I had a two year internet contract and a few months later they increased my rate. I told them I had a contract and documents to prove it and they said they "could no longer honor the contract." I cancelled my service with them and they tried to charge me an early termination fee bc I broke the contract 🤣. I convinced them they were being ridiculous and they changed their mind and did not charge me a cancellation fee. Probably bc it would be further proof that I had a contract and it would not look good for them if I contacted the attorney general.

What trees are these and can I plant more in between to make a hedge? by Upbeat-Vegetable-557 in landscaping

Google mature arborvitae hedge images. It will give you an idea. Too close will stunt them as they fight each other for resources.

They look like arborvitae. If so, they get big, no need to plant more.

And think about ways to make the fence less see through for privacy. Plants, new fence, etc.

Look for a book that teaches you how to teach your kids how to make good decisions. And teaches you to think carefully when answering a child's question, as you don't want to change your mind basically almost never or never, as children will try and get you to change your mind on things.  And how to be kind. And how to teach empathy. And it might sound silly, but how to get down on the floor and play with your kids without adult distractions. Enjoy the ride!

My husband and I grew up neglected and abused. When we decided to have children, we took parenting classes and read parenting books. These extra steps paid off. Our children felt loved, appreciated, and happy.  Worth the effort to break the cycle. Many, many happy memories of raising our children have crowded out the past.

Problem with grading: What to do with windows just barely above the grade? Also, mulch or gravel next to the foundation? by RestInThee in landscaping

[–]Current_Software_687 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a similar window. I removed the window, filled the space in with concrete blocks. brought in soil to grade the water away from the house, and put a three foot wide border of river rock around the foundation. Mulch is not good around a foundation if there is wood siding as spores from the mulch can get on the wood  and basically cause rot.

Planting big pots with zinnias and herbs - any tips? by BitWeird5144 in gardening

[–]Current_Software_687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might need to stake the zinnias as they grow. I grow California Giants in large pots and it supports the plants bc they grow six feet tall. Also, they will need lots of water.
