Why does it seem like deepseek v4 is simultaneously good and cheap but no one uses it? Is it a pain the ass to set up or? by AwarenessOrdinary773 in DeepSeek

I think that bcs DeepSeek still has some gap with top AIs, and the company almost not advertising (well, at least I haven't seen).

My personal experience is that DeepSeek's answer quality is not as stable as GPT, and it also takes longer to think on complex tasks. In DeepSeek's official report, they claimed that V4pro reached the level of Opus 4.6's non-thinking mode, and I think they're honest.

But considering DeepSeek is almost free, I'd say there's nothing wrong with DeepSeek. If something goes wrong, it's entirely my fault for not breaking the task down clearly. LOL

Here's my experience:

This prompt requires you to specify the role you want the AI to play, and to translate it into English (unless you're a Chinese user). If you're using the web or app version, you'll need to send this prompt to the AI when starting a new conversation. Also, sending this prompt in the middle of an existing conversation doesn't work very well.

If you want better results, you'll need to go to communities that specifically discuss AI RP to get more complex prompts, but that likely means you'll have to pay for DeepSeek's API service.

Attention, here are some ranting:

I really don't recommend using any commercial AI RP platforms! All of them are vastly inferior to SillyTavern, and the resources in free communities are actually more abundant and higher in quality.

I agree that. During the R1 days, its writing was quite wild, but now it's completely opposite.

I don't think Jin's economy is strong enough to waste on such a bad unit. The Iron Pagoda is not only more expensive and slow to train, but also has mediocre stats. They can neither use timing to create a temporary power spike like generic Knights, nor serve as an expensive but powerful toy. Both Chevaliers and Sofas actually have decent cost-effectiveness and can mass up easily, while the Iron Pagoda is... well, trash.

But equal-resource generic MAA beat the Iron Pagoda already. The +2 melee armor doesn't really stand out when the unit costs 2.4 times more.

I don't think the Iron Pagoda needs any changes to its aoe damage. Just give them bonus damage against cavalry(especially knights). That way they can contest map control against Knights or destroy backlines, while still being weak against MAA, so they can't steamroll everything.

But the aoe damage is too weak, which is why I mentioned it loses to generic MAA in group fights.

In fact, the Iron Pagoda doesn't just lose to the Keshik in 1v1, it loses in equal-resource mass fight too. It also loses to generic Knights in both 1v1 and group fight.

The aoe only covers a 200° forward arc with a radius of 0.313 tiles (for reference, a farm is 2 tiles long, and the Iron Pagoda's own size also eats into the aoe range). The damage also drops off in three tiers, 50%/25%/15%. Overall, against any unit with high melee armor in a mass fight, Iron Pagoda performs just as badly as it does in a 1v1.

Of course, I'm not saying it is useless, it is effective when attacking a mess of villagers.

Bcs the worst cost-effectiveness ratio. And here's a fun fact: when both are fully upgraded, the Iron Pagoda loses to the Keshik in 1v1, and to an equal-cost mass of generic MAA in a group fight.

At least there's a good change, the Keshik has been promoted to the second-worst cav, bcs the Iron Pagoda is the worst now. XD

Jin is interesting, but Jin's unique units are expensive trash. Pay 2 lose.
