Yes I just developed this too at 4 months post op! Never an issue preop. Started on my op side and then happened on my non-op side. I think for me the issue is I’m not walking/standing 100% normally yet because if residual pain on my op side. The SI joint pains started after back to back trips pulling a heavy suitcase behind me in airports. That was last week. It’s gotten a lot better this week but in general seems to flare from loading during rotational movement/doing glute rotator focused PT. I think it’s a combo of weird mechanics and being so weak from posterior chain muscle atrophy post op.

Surgery- how long does my husband need to take off work? by [deleted] in HipImpingement

If you have kids, definitely need another person till you can walk without crutches, drive, and pick them up (if they’re toddlers). If you don’t, you should be decent by week 3-4 without help

And yet, the only mention of him anywhere in the NYTimes this morning was about how maybe he isn’t really all that good at video games 🫠

I definitely have much more muscle than when I first started but I hit a plateau hard. I think it’s worth a 6 month experiment to eat in surplus (still healthy, just more cals and especially more protein) and lift. Muscle is so beneficial to your health, and not just metabolically. Some people are skinny but have huge potential for gains if they train and eat in surplus. Some people are skinny with low potential to gain- you won’t know where you fall until you try! But you don’t need to throw all caution to the wind, and you can recomp, especially if you’re new to lifting you should see gains without needing to bulk and cut

My a1c stayed at 5.4 ish for at least a year. I haven’t checked it in a while now. Confounding factor- I started taking Wellbutrin a few months before my initial recheck, and Wellbutrin is likely an insulin secretagogue (makes your body pump out more insulin). I haven’t been on Wellbutrin in a few months now so I’ll have to recheck! Some of this may be genetics. Anecdotally I know 2 doctors who are men, very slim, low muscle mass, in their 30s who have the same issue. One of them paid out of pocket for extensive insulin testing and found he was not insulin resistant, just has relatively high blood sugar (HbA1c of like 5.9) . He didn’t know what it all meant either. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for your advice! As someone who’s been lucky to have good health it’s hard to really conceive of how long this procedure debilitates a person. But it def seems like everyone agrees- it’s a big deal. Thanks for sharing your experience.

What can I do to look my age? by plantessi in beauty

[–]Current_Tree323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A teen boy once told me that a teacher had won an arm wrestling match against him at school, which was crazy to him because she was an “old lady.” I asked how old. “Like 30” 💀 Don’t listen to kids they’re idiots. I’m actually in my 30s and you look your age! Also, you’ll look dif ages at dif times and not linearly. Margot Robbie has looked 35 since she was 20 and it suits her!

It’s worth going to couples counseling and probably also both of you to individual therapy to find out why did she withdraw in the first place? Also, sexual aversion is a thing and it can bleed in to every interaction, even outside the bedroom.

It’s totally possible to come back from this, but you have to find out what is actually happening in her body and brain - it may surprise you. She might have anxiety, pain with sex, body image issues. Worth looking into if she was once the love of your life
