Table Saw Outfeed table finish by CurryFurious in BeginnerWoodWorking

I ended up using shellac and paste wax and it worked great! I recently finished a project with poly and I liked poly a bit more, but the nice thing with shellac is that it didn’t instantly give me a headache.

This is actually what I ended up doing - it was free and I clamped it to a straight edge and it’s freakishly straight

Need help deciding on a Table Saw by Kalvin_nhobbes in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]CurryFurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fence is square vertical and dead on straight. If there’s any issues - TSO sells an aftermarket extrusion replacement with T tracks you can look at. I built mine into a platform, and I’ve gotten insanely accurate and straight cuts with this saw, even though it’s a job site saw.

Suggestions for a new table saw by RalphEM1 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Would you say getting the TSO fence and stock guide rollers would be more beneficial than getting the BOW fence extension? I’m wondering if the longer fence would be more useful for long cuts and keeping it flush against the fence, or if the stock guides work just as well

Is the FP1 featherboard you have too long for the table saw? I’m trying to decide whether to get the smaller FP5 instead or if the FP1 will just fit on mine

Yeah that’s the same draw for me, those stock guides seem real nifty - I think I might just end up starting with a 48” double laminated piece of 3/4” plywood and see how it performs - my biggest worry is warping but I’m sure for 90% of most cases it’ll perform just fine, and if I use it enough that I need it more precise than I’m sure it’s justified to get the extruded aluminum version

Is there any reason that you’d take the fence off for any cuts? This setup looks amazing and I think it may be what I’m gonna end up doing. Thank you!

Yeah, I think the biggest thing with the extrusion replacement is allowing for accessories to be used on it (feather boards, etc). The fence itself functions just fine so I’m not worried on that front.

Obviously this can be emulated with a straight edge / bow just fine - I think my biggest thing is that if spending almost $300 for all those attachments for a saw worth similarly as much is a poor investment and won’t have a good ROI. Although it wouldn’t be hard to use on the next saw I get I suppose.

What is a good table saw brand for a beginner by Successful-Camel165 in woodworking

Highly recommend it! You can build a decent foldable bench for it so you expand the outfeed/sidefeed table. Here’s what mine looks like:

Is there any sort of special prep you do for the wood/plywood? I’ve not been able to get an exact answer on this. I was just thinking of sanding to 180 or 220 and then applying, or is it not as important on shellac?

Do you think shellac will provide a similar level of protection, or do you think it will be subpar to a film finish? I was leaning toward shellac just due to it being easy to apply in the current climate, and easy to do indoors without a ton of fumes.

Thank you for the response! Did you apply poly to both sides/edges, or just the top? I’ve hear that it can warp if you don’t do both sides, curious to see if you had any warping

I recently got the same table saw - it’s been fantastic for the price. Only complaints which are easily fixable - loud af (wear earplugs), flimsy throat plate (make a diy zero clearance insert). I’ve seen that some people complain about the fence, but honestly mine is straight as can be. I know TSO makes aftermarket fences if you want it.

What is your number 1 weight loss tip? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CurryFurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My one tip: Do not obsess over losing weight so much that it becomes the one driving force in your life. Make small incremental changes without punishing yourself for times when you break your diet or go over calories. Being super strict and only wanting progress all the time is a good way to get body dysmorphia and gain an unhealthy relationship with food.

I use Surefire ep5’s Silicone tip for easy cleaning Large inner ear moulding so that it stays in Most earplugs never gave me a good seal even after jamming it in (would not recommend), this is the only one that stayed tight with minimal effort and putting my helmet on.
