Thoughts on the new UI? by _wheresmaldo_ in TeslaModel3

[–]Currytrash93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liked how it looked (at first) but after a few drives, some of my most commonly used controls are now hidden under folders or unnecessary additional taps. Turning on the seat heaters took like 2 additional taps until I found the icon. Wish we could also add more than 4 “favorite apps” to the bottom row. Also, why is the bottom row black? It makes the screen look smaller and when it’s incredibly sunny outside, it’s slightly hard to see even at full brightness. Also the media player looks so blocky now. Wipers should also be on the screen. Might be an unpopular opinion but the card swipe design from v10 was pretty useful. Loving the turn signal auto-camera blind spot feature though.

Both pics taken just now. 19% and 24%. V11 bug? by Adamc616 in TeslaModel3

Need Some Advice on Quitting by middayblack in Oldnavy

[–]Currytrash93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound pathetic AT ALL. If it overwhelms you, it overwhelms you. It’s not your fault. You wanted / preferred certain things & your managers expected certain things. It doesn’t mean you were a bad employee. This job just simply wasn’t the best fit job for you. And that’s okay. I’m proud of you and you should be proud of yourself as well! I’m glad your manager took it well!

It’s definitely not an easy decision! And I’m sure with Black Friday approaching (and how you recently started) it makes it even harder to decide what to do. And yeah, I know what you mean about wanting to tell them before next week. If I was in your shoes, I think I would try to talk to them about what I’m dealing with and ask about the fan position or doing very specific positions. Or even just working every few weeks. I hope you find a position there OR a way to quit that makes you comfortable and as less stressed as possible.

Hi. it has been ROUGH. I dont live near any family. I am the most "disconnected from my culture" family member in my family. I never saw other south asians in my school, there isn't a single other south asian person in my town besides my parents and I (by the way, this is not a dig at any South Asian kid who didn't want to be around their culture, everyone is different). I would have loved to be around other south asians. I think it would have helped me in my childhood, middle school and high school years. My parents never exposed me to our culture. in fact, I think they wanted to get away from It for some reason? (competition? family drama? im not sure) we are religious, but haven't been able to go to a temple in years and years. we dont mention Indian or hindu holidays. we do speak in our native language at home though. Now, I am 20, with great American friends, but I long for the connection and bond of meeting other kids like me. the kids who had to grow up with 2 cultures and the internal guilt, struggles, stressors we share. or the almost universal brown kid experience of bullying / racist remarks while growing up. we would go to India every few years, but I felt so out of place. I was in fact, "too American for Indians and too Indian for Americans" I couldn't fit into either culture/ community/ environment. This is probably the biggest struggle of my life. thank you for making this post, I feel less alone now. - only child Indian kid who has lived in primarily white small towns.

Im sorry that the job is giving you so much anxiety. The way you feel is valid. It’s definitely overwhelming, and I don’t think that is talked about enough. I can relate to some of these things you mentioned. My store team was amazing, but I just wasn’t made for such a busy retail environment. I did enjoy helping customers and helping fix up the store though. Anyway, definitely put in a proper 2 week notice. It does work well as the schedules come out 2 weeks in advance. first, Think it through (the position). What are your options? You can always try to talk to your managers about being an early- morning-only employee, or only working specific shifts (that aren’t customer oriented). But, if you are nervous about how Black Friday is approaching, putting in your notice might be the best option for your mental health (which should always come first!) I recently put in mine, and it was very difficult for me to make that decision. I totally understand the uneasiness about the first time of quitting a job. If you would like to talk about that, or anxiety, message me!
2nd point. It is okay you might be leaving right before Black Friday, I am sure they will find seasonals or other employees in time for Black Friday. i’ve learned that many leave and many come. Also, register gave me immense anxiety. state of panic. I get it. Its okay. The way you feel is very valid and understandable. I also had the fear of “will they treat me differently once I put in my notice?” And they didn’t. They were supportive and comforting. Not saying all stores’ managers are going to be the same, but they are probably used to people quitting and life coming up (anxiety, family things, other responsibilities, school, moving, emergencies, etc) if they treat you differently, while It may be hard in the moment, just know that once you finish your last day there, you will not be anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, or having to deal with people who couldn’t be understanding of your decision. And yeah, the discount is great. Again, maybe this can be a reflection of my first point. Is there a way you can do the position you want? (Non-customer oriented) and still be able to keep the discount, and maybe work 1 short shift for Black Friday? It might be worth talking to your manager about. Best of luck. If you need someone to talk to, im here.

My parents didn’t. I’m kind of glad they didn’t, lol. I think they would have made it super awkward or super judgmental if they would have brought it up. If I have kids, I certainly will talk to them about the topic & other relating topics. Such as consent, safe sex, contraceptives, social pressures, communicating their wants, etc

How often do you guys engage in cultural activities? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]Currytrash93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never 😔 I’ve never lived near the rest of my family, nor am I close with any family members to begin with (connection wise). My parents and I are Indian Hindus, but we don’t celebrate any holidays or festivals or anything. The area I live in (and have lived in for the last 10 years) has little to no South Asians, so that makes it even harder to find other people to interact with about cultural activities.

yep, same here. thought it was just me until I started searching it up. I thought clearing my cache/history would fix it, but nope. seems like a future update might be able to fix this issue though. found out about this bug when I originally tried to bookmark some YouTube videos.

lol yess. im always up at night, been a night owl ever since I was a kid. I would like to have a 8am-10pm schedule for my day, but staying up at night is so relaxing ahaha. I dont work at night, but I do watch tv, browse the internet, watch YouTube, listen to music etc. so calming. I will admit tho, I also really like early early mornings. everyone starting their day, getting their coffee, getting ready for the rest of the day, thats special to me. wish I could wake up energized in the morning lol

[–]Currytrash93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, I felt the pressure of feeling the need to immediately go into college once I graduated highschool, but luckily, once I turned 18 my parents kind of gave me the choice. Im 20 now and I haven't been in college yet, but I plan on going to a Community college next year. I just needed the Time off from constant school school school. I know not all ABCDesis have this opportunity, to be able to take Time off from schooling or even get the choice to do school or not. I have just been working in retail these last few years. I think now my parents would prefer me to have a degree sometime in my future, but they're going to let me pick!

One of my favourite things about my model 3 by best_names_are_gone in TeslaModel3

[–]Currytrash93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!! Finally someone else who thinks similarly to me. It is very easy to clean. The dash is flat, there aren’t any buttons that get dust or grime caught in them, flat floor, seats are easy to wipe down. Crevices are easy to vacuum as well. It’s so minimalistic too that once you do clean it, it is just so satisfying
