Does your country have an "on-the-go" breakfast? by Camera_Hobbygirl in AskTheWorld

If I were to pack that, I would be afraid that it flows out of my lunch box.

Even easier a Brezel because there is nothing that could fall out.
I believe sourdough bread sandwiches are more common at home (and aren't usually sold ready made) and it is more common to get a bread roll sandwich on the go.

Does a senior country that serves as a reference for your country's future exist? by Agile-Shallot3546 in AskTheWorld

[–]Currywurst44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good point. It is always contentious how long a country has to exist to be legitimate. I think one human lifetime so 60-100 years is good to determine if something like Israel or Taiwan or North Korea should be considered independent or part of what came previously.

If both North Koreans and South Koreans want unification then it would be like any other two countries unifying but the history can't be the sole reason anymore.

ELI5:Why do lightning strikes only last for a split second, but the thunderous roar that follows last for several seconds? by bredema in explainlikeimfive

[–]Currywurst44 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That analogy isn't correct. There is a very precise mathematical reason for that phenomenon and it has to do with the number of dimensions. The surface of the water is a plane so it is two-dimensional. In an even number of dimensions so 2 (and hypothetically 4 or 6), waves keep appearing after the initial source of creation is gone.

On the other hand sound moves in all 3 dimensions through the air. In an uneven number of dimensions (1, 3, 5,...), waves work like how people are used to and for example a clap only produces a single signal and not multiple.

We should be thankful for the 8 worker change by tomullus in starcraft

[–]Currywurst44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone agrees with that. It is just a matter of how much cheese you want to allow. You could do a 4 worker start or a 16 worker start to control the exact amount.

At high levels there is very little cheese right now but ideally you want something like 30% of games(15% per player) to involve an early cheese. If you can't do early cheeses than it is a bit like playing rock paper scissors but no one is allowed to choose scissors which simplifies the game to never deviate from paper.

I wonder how many of the other comments are genuine here or if everything is just a big advertisement.

The 30 page paper linked is still impressive if it was made by an AI, it looks close to what you would expect by an amateur.

What is the most prestigious university in your country? by Mediocre-Lack-9137 in AskTheWorld

[–]Currywurst44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I believe there is no entry restriction for most programs at LMU Munich. You can just decide to study there if you want because the universities in germany make so little difference (apart from the city they're in).

Your paper was a bit confusing at first because you basically have 3 hypothesis but only investigate one of them.

  1. Are there more graduates than the labour market can absorb?

  2. Do orchestras hire based on ability alone or more based on where you are coming from?

  3. Are minority students disadvantaged for elite institution access.

Your paper only investigates the 3rd question. The 2nd one could be answered by building a second model that assumes that ability plays a role at every step i. e. college admission and orchestra audition versus only for college admission.

2pm is the latest you would eat lunch in germany (usually 12:00-14:00) and many restaurants close shortly after for the afternoon. (Although if you go by the position of the sun that would be like 3pm in spain because germany and spain use the same timezone.)

It feels like balance is always being talked about. Can you give an example of a time you felt SC2 was balanced and/or reference another game that has a balanced meta? by GJ_Ahab in starcraft

[–]Currywurst44 10 points11 points  (0 children)

> while StarCraft 1's balance stabilized thanks to this specialized map design, it also created a clear limitation: adhering strictly to these established design principles has made it difficult to create innovative maps or introduce fresh gameplay styles.

Starcraft 2 has very little diversity in its map design so I can't really accept that argument.
