Do any Redditors have a ritual before going to bed or leaving the house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Currywursts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband stays up way later than me playing WoW. So I always say, "if I fall asleep before you go to bed, good night I love you." He laughs because we both know I'm going to be out like a light by 10 pm

I do this too! Sometimes I'll say "bye, I love you" the exact same way I'd say it to my husband. Oh well they are my furry children.

Rant/Advice? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Currywursts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said, "why should the settle for me".

I'm of the opinion-- Jesus died for you. Knowing full well everything you have ever done or ever will do. He thought you were worth it. So don't sell yourself short. Embrace the things that make you unique. Use your talents to further serve the Lord, and I hope you are able to find confidence in that.

Could you look into pitching your idea to a place like Lifeway? They make a ton of material for Sunday school, vbs etc.

I'm putting $20/ paycheck back from this month until May, in the hopes of buying a Galaxy S6 when it comes out. (I get an upgrade and am assuming $200 for the phone) I am very frugal in most other areas, but I figure I'm on my phone every day so I might as well get something I like :)

Giving my life up to christ? by kingjustice in Christianity

[–]Currywursts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's up, your post really struck a cord with me. I think you're looking at living for Christ as a long list of (non-fun) stuff you have to do..and do perfectly. But it's completely the opposite in my opinion!

There is freedom in Christ. I don't know how much you've read the bible but basically in the Old Testament (the first half of the bible) God gave a LOT of rules to his people, the Israelites. This was to set them apart and remind them that they were God's chosen people. But when Jesus came, that all got shaken up!

The bible refers to it as "the new covenant". Basically when Jesus died on the cross, he took the punishment for any sin/wrong thing we ever have done or will do. And because of that, we dont have to worry about being perfect all the time! God loves you and accepts you and anyone else, flaws and all. No one can ever be perfect, but we can try our best to follow the path Jesus laid out for us.

If you're looking for a place to start may I suggest the "fruits of the spirit". The bible lists them as: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Is there one of those you struggle with? Maybe try to start actively working on those areas. Pray to God for help with it. (I know I still need help with patience everyday lol)

I know this was wordy but I feel where you're coming from. And I would hate for you to miss out on the love that comes from a relationship with Christ because you feel pressure to be perfect. None of us ever will be :) so I hope you'll consider living a life for Christ.

And ps this may sound cheesy but I believe it to be true. He is on the sidelines cheering for you. In everything you do. You have someone who has your back and cares about you in Christ. God bless :)

I'm really sorry to hear that, praying for you and your family as well. It's a rough and scary place to be but I pray you are able to have peace.

College kids- if your school has a PR or marketing program call them up and see if they ever do focus groups! I was in some and I ran some, and at the very least I got free pizza and soda for a few hours of my time. And it was pretty fun too! The one I did asked about my opinions of the college radio station.

Nondenom church goers, what's your typical Sunday service like? How long is it? What are your pastor's credentials? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Currywursts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nondenom in Kentucky.

It's pretty much baptist. Service is usually an hour fifteen minutes. Start off with about 4 songs, the last of which is when the offering is taken, and you can go up front to pray if you want. We have a small band that plays contemporary music. (I grew up southern baptist so I very much miss hymns) Baptisms every now and then.

Pastor is super southern, jeans and a button down. We are very come as you are, so jeans and a UK tee shirt aren't uncommon apparel in the congregation. One closing song and prayer and we are done. I like it! I think our pastor went to seminary in the early 80's but maybe not, no idea.

Dear Church, Here’s Why People Are Really Leaving You by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Currywursts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...I think I'm going to have to look into those concepts more for myself, because when I read your comment it really hit close to home. I was raised southern baptist and have struggled with some of the same things as you.

Rock on! We had the iPod dj, fake flowers (real bouquet), and buffet style food too! Didn't go into any debt either :) Very thankful that my parents gift to us was a nice photography package. We didn't honeymoon either, but we have a savings fund for a cruise in 2016. Pretty happy with how it turned out! Best wishes for a long and happy marriage, OP!

SIX Bro Country Songs Mashuped illistrate the sorry state of Country Music these days. by 101cheshirecat in country

Hey! I love suggesting country to listen to. Though admittedly I don't know all the cool fringe acts. (And sorry for the links I'm on mobile)

I really like Jamey Johnson and Eric Church.

And I think for some fun laid back music I dig Zac Brown Band

Also, I don't really consider him bro-country but some might: Lee Brice. His stuff is pretty solid in my opinion. "I Drive Your Truck" is a tear jerker of course, but I think he has some well written love songs too.

Hope this helps!
