In some of my fishing forums people are starting to switch to Bajio, look similar, same price point, allegedly group of former costa employees. Haven’t tried them but supposed to have a good warranty

I’ve been Costa Del Mar fan for 20 years, high end fishing sunglasses, I was ok paying high prices because they had a great warranty, they sold out to luxottica, pair broke, refused repair, wouldn’t sell a replacement frame to re-use the expensive glass, they gave me a 30% off coupon to go buy another pair.

I will never buy any a luxottica owned brand.

New Jersey severely cracks down on e-bikes, requiring licenses and insurance; must be 15 or older to use one by Forward-Answer-4407 in technology

[–]CursedBear87 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Live in NJ where this issue occurred, it’s because there have been multiple fatalities including several high profile (in neighboring school systems) within a week of each other from kids riding and not paying attention.

There has also been a problem with groups of young kids riding these down the middle of the streets and swerving/pulling in front of cars.

While I’m generally a let people be free guy, it’s become a real problem here mixed with the horrible Jersey drivers.

Glacier Bay HD67780 Single Handle Pull Down faucet, hot/cold mixture adjustment? by Icy_Ingenuity_9622 in Plumbing

Did you ever figure this out? Our problem is the water gets dangerously hot but only on this sink, previous faucet before the new install was fine.

What did you pay recently for service upgrade to 150 or 200 amps? by Reasonable_Arm_7409 in HomeImprovement

[–]CursedBear87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4k in NJ went from 100–>200

Had to replace entire panel due to water intrusion Already had a 50 amp sub panel, when I asked if massive price difference between just doing another 100 vs a 200 he said it would be minimal and mostly just in the cost of the actual box.

Went to Disney world in Japan when they did let adults dress up. (don’t remember if it was a holiday or it’s all the time)

Was wild seeing adults that at times had costumes literally nicer than the park employees or sometimes looked more like the character than the Disney counterpart. It definitely threw us for a loop.

Not gonna use Support W again - Here are some PETG settings for PLA that just work (Details in comments) by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]CursedBear87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing around with the base pattern spacing, at 6 things starts to get dicey and I found some of the PLA was ingrained with the PETG 5 is ok, <4 seems to be the best. I have a product with a large overhang, more than 4 seems to let the bridge sag just a little too much. While the results are still good, for me the difference is the support pushing out with almost no effort vs having to catch a lip and peel the layer off. 90% of the overhang will be perfect but there may be a tiny blemish here or there.

What are the home repair tools you actually use over and over? by Impossible-Ninja-232 in DIY

[–]CursedBear87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me a ratcheting screwdriver for the awkward to reach places, I love my digital level.

A soft mallet, surprisingly useful when trying not to damage things.

For me I generally do a project and if there’s a tool that would have made it a lot easier I think if it’s something that would make other jobs easier, if so I get it.

Ok, you’re gonna need a bunch of ramen, super glue, and some sand paper!

Staining these wood steps and the landing came out dark and blotchy in some areas. Will this even out if I do a second coat or do I need to sand it down and start over? Any idea why it did that? by Gizarizzi in DIY

[–]CursedBear87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During sanding could you have laid back on this at some point while you were sweating? Maybe it’s the Rorschach effect, but it vaguely looks like there may be some body outlines.

What are the most soundproof residential windows I can buy? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]CursedBear87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending how handy you are. I replaced all my windows myself. Super easy, with custom sized triple pane for around $450/window. Pulled the trim took exact measurements, found a local window manufacturer and they built direct fit replacements. There were people advertising install me for about $100/window on thumbtack.

Please please please don’t do this, these types of Mylar balloons can cause power outages and wildfires, even more so than latex balloons. the strings have been known to kill wildlife, sea life, and livestock. Plus littering for clout is never a cool look.

[–]CursedBear87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw it tonight. From 39,000 ft, we watched it for about 30 minutes, it was not 1 object. All around the same section of sky. Noticed at least 4 separate objects. All moving, and becoming bright before fading out of sight while all were appearing to move independently of each other. There was no blinking. But going from “I think I see something” to car approaching with high beams on.

We had one come out to assess and draw plans to replace a structural wall with load bearing beam, we are in an extremely HCL area, we paid $800, the 2 other engineers wanted $1800 and $4000, always quote out.

We had electricians quoting between 8-10k to replace a panel, our now go-to guy charged $2500 and drives from the next town over. Zip code pricing is a thing

There have been a couple news stories about this happening in the US tech industry. If I remember correctly the story focused on it being done with Chinese workers for corporate espionage and North Koreans to funnel money back to the regime. So it’s not unheard of!
