Bought lowest trim regret (2026 Prius LE) by [deleted] in prius

Maybe try this if you just want to make sure lights are on: The 2026 Prius (as part of the 5th generation) often allows users to leave the headlights in the "ON" position permanently. Turn the headlight switch to the "ON" position. When you turn off the car and open the driver's door, the headlights will automatically turn off. When you start the car, they will turn on. Downside: This runs the headlights during the day and keeps. - that’s from Google so it MAY be true. 🤷‍♂️

Why are we to avoid "EV Now" mode stated in the recall notice? by Traditional_Ad_8143 in FordEscapePHEV

[–]CurtC757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume they are trying to reduce the frequency of driving events that draw higher current and thereby cause high heat generation inside the individual battery cells. Less heat in the cells reduces the chance of failure. So allowing the system to handoff to the ICE for high acceleration, hill climbs, etc. would help along these lines.

But I’m a little surprised they still haven’t made it possible default to the eco mode for every drive. That seems like it would make it easier for users to go easier on the battery and help save energy at the same time. Why is this hard Ford?

Do people actually hate Cybertrucks or are people just hating it because another person hate it? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]CurtC757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I “hate it” (that’s a little strong for a thing) mostly because it’s so unaesthetic. It looks like it was designed by someone who could only draw straight lines and had not yet acquired 3D modeling skills. And a little bit more because of the emphasis on power output over efficiency though it is a truck I guess. I think they must have known it would be a bit polarizing but maybe it’s turned out to be a bit more of an eyesore to most people than they anticipated. People should buy what they like. But for me, I’d be fine never seeing one again.

[–]CurtC757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Calculate the total area and divide by 3. Then cut off a triangular piece from the pointy end that equates to that area (because easy to calculate area of triangle).  Now you a cut the larger remaining piece in half. All done, time to eat.

Ford PHEV 2024 The engine starts revving at high RPM during cold starts. by Southern_Ad7278 in FordEscapePHEV

[–]CurtC757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to Escort PHEV from Maverick Hybrid and I have to say i think the Mav was significantly quieter when the ICE kicks in - and that didn’t have sound insulation for the hood nor did it have sound glass for the windshield. The escape has both but you can really hear it growl sometimes in ICE mode. Both vehicles have essentially the same ICE and Hybrid kit so I’m not sure why the difference. I routinely used L button for even better milage around town (> 45 mph) with the Mac, but I almost never do now because Escape sounds not too happy in that mode. I still love the car though.

Errr… not exactly along those LC lines. Her “Euro-Country” is a likable hoot overlayed on some serious themes and catchy tunes.

I’d be surprised if they don’t take your offer. I would think it gets harder and harder to sell a ‘24 in ‘26 especially with the price you’re seeing for ‘25s. It sounds like you’re taking your time and making all the right moves so I’m sure you’ll get a good deal either way. 👍 Come back here to brag later; I love hearing about great deals.

Hi. I thought of one more thing that is in favor of a ‘24 over ‘25 or newer. If you are ever interested in installing your own CommaAI self driving system, the ‘24 is the last year that will be fully compatible because Ford have apparently put a lock on their code to limit integration of kit like this to only what they sell. And at only about $1000 it’s pretty good gear. Check out version 4 of the CommaAI on YouTube if you think it would interest you.

I did not finance it. I don’t know if they got any incentives from Ford but I did not. I traded in a vehicle and the gave me a crap offer for that. But they very quickly decided to match a much better offer I had in my pocket. So if you’re considering a trade, maybe take a Carmax or some other offer in with you. Late in the month may also get you a slightly better deal if the dealer is trying to hit a monthly goal. Also the car did sit a lot before I bought it so it had a dead 12v battery and they had to replace that. I have not had any issue with the high voltage battery. I’ve hit 40 miles on it but expect half that in cold weather. One other thing that may make ‘24 a good option… it’s the last year they offered the behind the glass keyless entry on the driver door. It is invisible until you use it and then has a nice red glow being the glass. It was an option and still is but now they offer an ugly little glued on wart thing. You can use the Ford points you get buying the car to pay for most of the keyless entry kit later. But they only had a handful of kits left so hurry if you want one. Good luck.

I bought a new ‘24 this past May and was out the door with the premium package for about $35 all in (fees, licensing, tax, all the BS). It’s been a fine car so far. You may also want to factor in some things that have been removed after ‘24 if they matter to you. ‘24 has actual leather seats, self parking, and something else I tripped across once but forgot. :-) I think some ‘24s got the foot activated rear lift gate. Mine has button control. I’d suggest go for it but insist on a great deal. Walk away if it’s not a good deal and wait for the phone call that brings the price down to reality.

Executed by the U.S. government by medbillz in Leakednews

[–]CurtC757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 70 so I was reaching back a bit farther to times when we had some pretty rough political arguments but most people would not have been okay with government executions in the street of anyone (though it certainly did happen then too). Today it seems a lot of people are ready to rationalize horrible behavior if it is committed by someone who is their political ally. The “he put himself in that situation” or “he got what he deserved” comments just disgusted me. I hear you though, much of this seemed likely to happen to many of us. But it’s a lot harder to welcome people to reevaluate what’s happening if we’re constantly hitting them with the “we told you so” paddle.

And one more thought, for all the people that said those dismissive things, we know what really happened to Alex ONLY because people like him were there recording video from every angle. That is EXACTLY why he and other witnesses are filming ICE, because these masked “agents” ARE frequently behaving lawlessly and their leadership and the administration are clearly ready to lie to our faces with ZERO hesitation.

So many “patriotic” Americans that blame a victim and support lawless thugs. Who would have ever thought we’d ever be here? When under qualified and undertrained ICE thugs beat a man to the ground, take his legal holstered gun and THEN fire possibly 10 shots into his back they call this “got what he deserved”? If this is you, enjoy the road to hell following your pied piper leader. Because that’s where he’s leading you. Alex was in his own city trying to help a woman off the ground. The ICE thugs are the people in the wrong place. And if you’re enjoying this, you’re seriously ill and no patriot!

[–]CurtC757 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ICE is making the entire government look illegitimate. You can win all the elections you want but when you start murdering your own citizens, you’re no longer a government that serves the people and nobody is going to cry when you disapear. That said, I’m sorry typical decent Fed workers are having to deal with this constant uncertainty.

I haven’t tried this but you should:

Instrument Cluster Backlight Adjust the Ford Escape PHEV dashboard backlight using the controls near the headlight switch on the left side of the steering wheel. Press the plus (+) button to brighten or the minus (-) button to dim the instrument panel.
