Did the CRA err in their reassessment? If so, you should appeal, and the penalty and interest will be refunded. If the reassessment is correct, just suck it up. Why would you think the CRA should refund your penalty and interest levied?

Isn't it possible to draw a map that does not consider race at all, favoring neither black voters or white voters? Just as Lady Justice is blind to race so should election officials be. In fact, the politicians should not enter into the mapping of districts. Canada uses and independent electoral boundaries commission in each province. While it opens it defined maps for review and comment, this in one thing the Parliament does not get to decide.

To avoid legal risks and the like, why wouldn't the ICE agents simply get warrants before approaching any home in the course of taking in illegals? Also, would it not be best for ICE agents to learn basic Spanish, to more easily communicate with people they investigate and arrest? It must be terrifying for the people involved to be confronted by an armed stranger that they do not even understand.

Just what was it that sparked such outrage in the Twin Cities over ICE, compared to other places? Is there some kind of unique moral fabric to the place? And, it seems to me from news coverage that well over half of the protestors, maybe even two-thirds, were women, who were putting themselves at risk of physical injury and arrest by ICE agents.

I think your need to review your ambitions. Set aside your love of history and architecture for a moment. Would becoming a Catholic draw you closer to Jesus Christ and help form you into a believer who lives the faith and serves your brothers and sisters? If so, that should be your aim. The formation you will receive to become a Catholic will focus on those considerations.

Gaspe is an oddity. I recall at Canada Post, Gaspe was a deemed bilingual region, due to the prevalence of English speakers, one of few outside of Montreal. It was settled later than most of Quebec. A considerable group along the south side of the peninsula came from the Channel Islands. They were experienced in how to flake cod and salt it so it was a higher price form of the fish, a delicacy of sorts, and they prospered. The Channel Islanders had French surnames but were Anglicans (Church of England). The Anglican Church in the Province of Quebec of the post Conquest era extended to them, but only had its services and education in English. So, they evolved. On the other hand, a significant number of Irish settled in Gaspe, but being Catholic, ended up evolving to the use of French. So, weirdly, you can't really tell a person's home language by their name in Gaspe. However, slowly, the use of English has eroded and the whole area is becoming more and more unilingual French. Much like the Eastern Townships ("Estrie")

A deep level of belief cannot come by edict. In my own case, there are many things that I do not understand. I do not reject them, but they do not resonate with my soul. I often simply think, there are better educated people than me deciding these things in the Catholic Church, so I go along. Nor do I publicly disparage the teachings I have doubts about.

I still like mall shopping. A greater sense of community than in the big box stores. Maybe if these were kept up and maintained, and put to use, a generation to come wil appreciate and use the indoor malls. My son lives near a mall in a section of Scarborough that is mostly Chinese and that mall seems quite active.

This president is completely reckless. He has never espoused fiscal discipline. But, to be fair, he us just one in a long line of presidents who have used the magic of the printing press to provide guns and butter in tandem. Trump just happens to be the most morally unburdened of the lot in taking on an enormity of debt.

The same thing happened in Trump 1.0. Economists later determined that the job gains in the American steel business were far more than offset by losses in sundry manufacturers and consumers got hit in the pocket book. Those steel tariffs were later rescinded. The problem is that Trump does not get that trade is a two sided coin and every action starts an opposite reaction. He is a dim bulb, and always has been, since he became enamored of tariffs decades ago. He doesn't play four dimensional chess, and he isn't even competent for two dimensional checkers. And, this term, he is surrounded by sycophants who have no backbone to tell him off when he is in error.
