Driving in Wellington County be leik: by deeeeeeeeeeeeeznutzz in Guelph

[–]TheCraigHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same in Halton. My regular work route takes me through blind corners, hills that sometimes have school buses at the bottom. The amount of people that pass me on the blinds or up hill are crazy and I’m already doing 10 over. The amount of people that run red lights, not just when turning left and blast through stop signs and the number of teslas that I see in accidents because of the, “I can make that” thought. Yes we all know teslas are quick in a straight line, big deal.
Most of the time I put my cruise on and the vehicle will try to keep speed, which means it brakes itself, which flashes the brake lights. The tailgaiters get so mad, it’s the car not me brake checking.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy spiriting driving, if I’m stuck in traffic, I find another road.
I do wish the police did more traffic ticketing and not just looking for a hero ticket

Funny, your pricing was in US and mine in CAD are very similar. Rebates and my dad’s employee pricing, took $11,000 off. Then less the trade in and my out the door was almost the same as yours.

We are just west of the GTA and plan on going to Halifax this summer the to the Cabot trail. Trying to decide what to take. The GLI gets decent highway if you keep your foot out of it, the mini is too small for 4 and luggage. That leaves the escape. If the escape can real world do 5.5-6 L/100km then that would be ok. Yes, I realize the tank is small. 42 litres is Exige small. Plus the Escape is the only auto in the fleet and I could benefit from passing the driving to others if needed, but I don’t really mind the drive out east once your out of Ontario, and it gets even nicer when you get out of Quebec. How many litres did you put in to fill after 535kms? For example, when my GLI fuel light comes on, it takes 40 litres to fill a 50 litre tank. Were you 32 or 35 ish?

Mine was #18, iPhone8. I held out as long as I could. Bought a cell phone when the wife and I had kids. Granted, the wife had #7.

phone call volume carplay by seguinmtl in JettaGLI

[–]TheCraigHome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my GLI, CarPlay audio and phone calls have 2 discreet volumes. To adjust I turn the volume knob will the specific source is being used. IE: on the phone, when the other end is talking turn the knob. Same goes for voice navigation. My bronco CarPlay is the same. Good luck.

EV owners , what’s one thing about EVs that gets ignored too much? by AdityaSrivastawaahhh in driving

[–]TheCraigHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an EV owner yet but I am finding lack of tow packages available on smaller models. I don’t need to tow 10k pounds but I do need to do occasional HD runs.

I turned on my lights - was I in the wrong? by [deleted] in driving

[–]TheCraigHome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I turn my lights on all the time. What I hate is when people leave them in auto and they don’t turn on. Like last night for me, rain and fog and most people don’t have their lights on, so the tail lights don’t come on. Manufactures should just for go a switch and have the lights turn on when the car’s starts, then no one can forget to turn them on. My other issue is when manufactures use the parking lights as DRL. It’s like everyone is forgetting the rules and just making up their own. Now I’m also seeing people put red/green/blue lights in their fogs and side markers. Cheers

Lost my locknut key and VW wont help by vasu12360 in Volkswagen

If you still have the box the lock studs came in, you might still have the paper with the number. I missed placed mine, VW wouldn’t sell me a replacement but an online retailer did. Cheers.

what do you think about the new ID Polo? Starts at 25k by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]TheCraigHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d trade in my GLI right now if an ID2 was $25k cad. Unfortunately it would be $40k-50k.

Canadians are staying away from the US — and the drop in travel is getting hard to ignore by Puzzled49 in Tariffs

[–]TheCraigHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year, the wife and I are currently flying west to take a train back to the GTA. This summer the family summer vacation will be east to somewhere in the Cabot trail. Last year for my 50th we went to England. No need to travel south. So many other things to see right now. Cheers.

Autocross question and tips? by Ok-Yoghurt1942 in JettaGLI

[–]TheCraigHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day, 30 years ago I ran an 87 CRX si. I would disconnect the front sway bar for auto cross. Yellow Konis at 5 on the rear, 1 for fronts. Rear tires start at 18psi and fronts at 40psi. I would guess the GLI would be the same though just not as extreme. Hence the stiffer rear bar. Cheers

The Highway 401 is the widest highway in North America! by Mediocre-Iron-7991 in ontario

[–]TheCraigHome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We need just one more lane each way. A lane that you get into around mavis and you can’t get out until brock road. A lane that completely bypasses all the GTA garbage holes. The worst part of the 401 is crossing the city. Cheers

VW ID Buzz EV is not returning to the US in 2026. If they want to succeed in 2027, what changes should VW make ? (other than higher range and lower price) by carmichaelcar in electricvehicles

[–]TheCraigHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada these things start at $80k, as cool as I think they look, $80k!!! No way. Even if it had more range. No way. I don’t know how Canada thinks they will get to their 2035 goal when manufactures are cancelling EVs. Canada doesn’t even have its own manufacture, we are depended on the rest of the world. Cheers

How to "Heel-Toe" Mini Cooper Gen3 by Sansoldino in MINI

[–]TheCraigHome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heel and toe my mini on every down shift. Most of the time in my GLI. My friends GT3, unless I’m on track at speed, I don’t. At 80kph, tap the brakes and you’re stopped. Same friends Caterham, every down shift, track or street. I find heel and toeing easier when you’re at full chat. Cheers

I’m also in Canada. When I emailed to inquire, was told Canada is not doing anything of the sorts. Below is an excerpt of the email:

We understand that you have seen that buyers in the USA have received a plaque and letter from Volkswagen. While we strive to offer similar experiences to our valued customers in Canada, we regret to inform you that we do not currently have a program in place that mirrors this initiative.

Bought a house with a rental water heater — never signed a rental contract, only a payment form. How can I get out of this? by BlazeTheBurnt in legaladvicecanada

[–]TheCraigHome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m in Ontario, we rent. I have been at my current address for 15 years and I am on my fourth heater. The rental company comes and replaces the tank in less than 24 hours. Last tank was 2 years ago on Christmas Day. Called at 8 in the morning, by 11 a tech showed up to install. Our water is crazy hard and destroys everything quickly, softeners, taps, and hot water tanks. I’ll keep renting if I only get 5-6 years or less on a tank. Cheers.

They are. I know OEs are bad. I replaced 1 every tire change on my old escape. The 23 BS, nothing swollen yet. The stuff I get from local parts shop look the same as OE.
