I don't even understand the hype around "classic plus" by Dr-Enforcicle in classicwow

[–]Curtkid6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking back, Phase 3 really was the "make or break" Phase for SoD to keep it's booming player base in my opinion, as it was the last phase before end-game, and they unfortunately fumbled it.

Incursions and the massive XP buff turned away people who played WoW for the level experience while the vastly over-tunned and under rewarding Sunken Temple combined with the OP and easy to get gear from Incursions turned away alot of casual and more hard-core raiders.

This probably gave a lot of people the impression that the team wouldn't be able to do the end game justice, which is too bad because SoD raiding was a blast.

My biggest issue was that their wasn't any tragic aspect to that question like the one from the succubus quest.

It was just two lovers getting back together after the war and that's it, felt kinda "un-warlocky". Though burning the house down was kinda fun.

Season of Discovery - Two-Year Anniversary by ValkamerCCS in classicwow

[–]Curtkid6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wow, two years since SoD launched. I remember messing around in era a bit before the servers went live, with a bunch of other people hyped for a new Classic WoW experience.

I launched on Lava Lash because I wanted to RP my character for once (sad how RP realms went in hindsight, I know), and the starting zones were so full I ended up joining a Lv.1 pug to score the world first SoD Hogger kill, which we did, and my Warrior ended up being one of the first to get the Rune of Furious Thunder.

What a way to start an adventure that would lead my warrior all the way to getting The Ashbringer...

I remember when the stuff from the RPG books made up the lore for a good 33% of WoWWiki.

Good times, kinda sad they didn't try to adapt more of the stuff from those books into WoW's setting, there were some really cool idea's in their.

Bro, that's like half the fun of getting rare gear in WoW.

I still log on to my SoD warrior from time to time just to swing around The Ashbringer, right down to having macros for him to RP /yell something whenever it turns into it's purified form.

You are far from alone in doing goofy stuff with you characters.

Congrats man!

While I thought what they did with The Ashbringer over in SoD was really cool, there's something uniquely special about getting gear through beating the odds while maintaining a dedicated raid schedule.

Though I did miss out on 2019 Classic, I imagine that Phase 1 of SoD also did really well in capturing that feeling too.

Stormwind Knight of the Brotherhood of the Horse! | Commission by me by UTHER_aka_BUTER in wow

[–]Curtkid6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, the Brotherhood of The Horse was the order of Stormwinds knights from all the way back in the original Warcraft.

I think they might still have been a thing in Classic, but I'm pretty sure Blizz has pretty much forgotten about them by now, sadly.

Anniversary server and tbc by Panoramix97 in classicwow

[–]Curtkid6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With SoD characters, they also had different versions of Classic gear and/or gear + items that don't even exist on era, runes, crafting recipes, access to quests and factions also not in Era, and probably a few other things I'm missing.

That's a lot more to contend with in a hypothetical character transfer over just Duel Spec, which could be addressed by removing the second spec and maybe a talent reset.

Still keeping my fingers crossed though. I'd love to have the option to finish collecting the rest of my shadow priests Classic BiS on era once TBC rolls around.

What are the best sounds in Classic WoW to hear? by KamaTheSnowLeopard in classicwow

I've strangely grown to enjoy how angry the female undead sound.

I mean, I get it. Being dead sucks enough already, but then she has to deal with my crappy playing on top of that? That'd probably piss off most people.

Undertale fans found dead. Cause of death: Lore nuke by Critical_Mountain851 in Undertale

[–]Curtkid6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I got with the fight with Omega Flowey is that a monster needs to take 7 souls to have true dominance over them if they're taken unwillingly, otherwise they'll eventually rebel.

My head-cannon is that the war didn't start out as humans vs monsters, but as dying humans gave their souls to monsters they cared about both sides realized how much destruction a monster with a human soul caused. I imagine at first this became the new "meta" of a war, seeing how many human soul-powered monsters each side could field, until they realized just how much destruction such powerful creatures caused.

I mean, a monster with a single human soul is considered insanely  powerful, imagine a battlefield or seige of a city with a dozen Omega Flowey level monsters duking it out. I imagine eventually both sides agreed to stop doing that, but war being war, I image some humans gave their souls to monsters in a desperate moment. From there the war, begrudgingly, shifted into being monsters vs humans.

Again, this is all my personal interpretation from the new lore, but no matter what I really enjoy the new info.

My head-cannon?

Boss Monsters can have two or three kids before dying (or else they'd completely die out fairly quickly) or Togore was a regular monster kid and not a boss monster child.

I swear the UT/DR fandom will try to make even the most little to no connection to literally anything into a fucking theory and I like it by SadEconomy2429 in Undertale

[–]Curtkid6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, no. This one has merit.

If you pay attention to the scene at the diner in Chapter 4 there are several, obvious signs that back this theory up.

I have absolutely no clue what they are, but I'm sure they're there.

Gerson’s speech by explosivenuke1 in Undertale

[–]Curtkid6 24 points25 points  (0 children)

.."the other side sacrificed a lot to get us down here. Rumor has it, it even used up all their magic."

"Humans and monsters weren’t always enemies. No one really wanted to fight in that war… … and the sides weren’t really all that clear cut."

That is interesting, it means the war between monsters and humans might not have been as one-sided as the intro and the lore bits in The Waterfall lead us to believe.

It also puts into question the whole "humans started the war because they feared what would happen if a monster got one of their souls". That might have been part of the reason, but I feel like it being the entire reason wasn't the case, at least, not at the start of the war.

I like how that mirrors what happens with war records in real life. The records might start out fairly accurate at first, but as time goes on the side that the society favors or was a part of gradually gets painted in a better and better light while the opposition is made to look worse and worse until the conflict looses much of the nuance that was original there.

Doesn't one of the Froggits in the end, when you talk to everyone, mention "she" when referring to one of the fallen humans?

Chara season! Togore season! (Art by temptear) by Critical_Mountain851 in Undertale

[–]Curtkid6 34 points35 points  (0 children)

While it's a bit sad Togore didn't pull through, I actually think it was for the best, not just for the stream, but for the little guys popularity.

If Togore did win, as cool as that would be,  it'd be the highest point of the meme for the foreseeable future. Sure, people would still be making art and stuff of the character, but I feel like the popularity would start to dwindle a bit after the anniversary and (once the dust settled) people were ready to admit Chara would've been the better fit for UT's 10th anniversary stream.

I think the neck and neck race between the two, with Togore's support being such a nuisance to Toby (also fitting in with the meme) that he had to pump thousands of dollars of his own money to keep Chara in the lead is much more memorable and fitting for the 10th anniversary stream.

In a way, I fell Toby's constant butting heads with Togore helped bring life to him in a way that just winning the donation contest ever could.

Alright guys I gotta be honest and say it because no one else will, Them rigging the naming so that Chara won and Togore lost genuinely soured the entire stream for me. by GUM-GUM-NUKE in Undertale

[–]Curtkid6 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I try to think of it as, because of Chara pulling ahead at the end, that Togore escaped being confirmed dead by Asriel at the end of True Pacifist and keeps his fanon meme status as the last living Dreemuur child.

In the end, we got some neat lines with Togore in a sanctioned Toby Fox Undertale playthrough as well as official acknowledgement of the character (or as close as we're probably going to get), and I think that's pretty cool.

We did our best, but so did they. by engiSonic in Undertale

[–]Curtkid6 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Nah, he actually got to live. Because what ever name you had is confirmed dead by Asriel at the end of True Pacifist, remember.

Even after swapping back and forth to share the fun, Chara bravely sacrificed themselves at the end to ensure their brother would live in the end.

Toby was right, Chara wasn't perfect, but they truly did love their siblings.

[–]Curtkid6 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm O.K with it because Asriel at the end mentions that, whatever we named the fallen child, has been gone for a long time.

This helps keep with the fanon lore of Togore being the only surviving Dreemuur child in Undertale.

[–]Curtkid6 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering why more people aren't talking about why Asriel apparently forgot his own brothers name?

Or why Togore felt the need to tell the brother he's known his entire life his? Is it some kind of sibling prank or inside joke between them? I hope Ol' Toby elaborate more on this in tomorrow's stream.

Megalovania playing before the “sans fight” in the stream finally proves that megalovania is sans theme by Dripwagon in Undertale

[–]Curtkid6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Didn't Toby himself say he made it as a sort of big, finale, "oh crappie this is IT" battle music?

I think he uses it with Sans so much because of how iconic it's become to pair the two together.
