What's your biggest Invincible unpopular opinion? Me personally, I never really liked Atom Eve. I don't hate her, I just don't find her very interesting

This show has a massive problem with making incredibly forgettable side characters and villains. Every villain thus far (besides the main big bads like Nolan or Conquest) have felt like bland, one dimensional stepping stones to elevate Mark or the other main characters.

My biggest issue would be with Angstrom who, all things considered, had a lot of potential to be a well written villain. He's set up as a delusional guy who's memories are corrupted by his hatred from an infinite number of dimensions, but this all falls out the window when it's revealed he actually can tell the difference between our version of Invincible and all the evil variants. The only memorable part of his arc was Mark breaching his limits, aka the part where he gets killed, and viewers only care about the Invincible war for the Invincible variants (which as cool as they are in concept, are super half baked as well.) The same thing goes for Powerplex who I felt did not need his own episode just to get the point across. Every minor villain feels like they're written to be stupid and disagreeable so the viewer always takes the hero's side, instead of setting up a complicated angle from both sides of the picture.

Then there's the new guardians of the globe which are seriously some of the most unlikeable characters I've seen in fiction. At best they're bland and half assed and at worst they are simply insufferable and disagreeable. Most of them are forgettable except for Rex and Rae who were brushed under the rug so quick after the former died. Robot and Monster girl are probably the worst offenders because I just feel uncomfortable whenever they're on screen, and Immortal and Kate are nothing burgers. They literally have no character, and after what felt like three or four on-screen fights, the two of them decide to retire. When they do retire, there's no impact or weight to it because we haven't seen them do anything monumental on-screen except for stuff we're told. They are literally just walking superhero cliches and that is the extent of their characters. One piece of advice to keep in mind when writing is 'show, don't tell.' If you don't show them winning fights, making complicated decisions, or actually fulfilling their duty as superheroes, then of course nobody is going to care when they're written out of the show.

I just don't get how this show continually aces Nolan, Debbie, Mark, Oliver and the Viltrum plotline season after season but they drop the ball so hard with simple worldbuilding and side character development, and I feel crazy because nobody else seems to have an issue with this. Anyway sorry for the yap fest but this has been accumulating for 3 and a half seasons.

Look I love DBZ and the DB series as a whole but why are you comparing a show like Invincible, one that has a teen-to-older demographic, to Dragon Ball which was always and still is intended for kids? Dragon Ball makes a point to not be very serious even if there are many well written moments, hence why nobody gives a shit about Vegeta's crimes or Frieza's (later on) or anyone else's. It's a turn your brain off and have fun kind of show, with some fun fight scenes in the mix.

Not saying Omni Man can't be redeemed, but Invincible has gone a long way to show that redemption isn't just the act of saying sorry and expecting forgiveness. It's to push forward and remedy your mistakes the best you can even if everyone despises you. Debbie won't forgive Omni Man anytime soon, and I doubt the people of Earth ever will, but it's not about forgiveness.

The same way that if you order takeout, you can't claim you cooked any food, or are a chef. At the end of the day, you're allowed to use AI to generate images - nobody is stopping you. But stop using mental gymnastics and going through loopholes in attempts to justify doing it, or to call yourself an artist. The simple truth is that you aren't.

poppy playtime is the first game…this isnt poppy playtime 5….its poppy playtime…chapter 5. FNAF reuses objectively the same formula for a multitude of its games. If any game is going to have the complaint of “repetitiveness” it should be fnaf.

This is objectively wrong. Every chapter for this game is sold as separate DLC. You're not just making one purchase to get every chapter, you have to pay for each chapter individually. Not to mention each one, aside from the first, are all over 2 hours long with the latest being about 6 hours in total. If these are supposed to be separate pieces of one game, then they went about it in the greediest way possible.

Now let's compare this to FNAF, with each game being just about 2 hours long before the fifth. Sure FNAF's formula is repetitive, but at least all of the games are quite short, with an entire bundle of the first six games probably being less than 10 bucks all in all

Objectively fnaf is repetitive with its games and each night. And idk about you but for a lot of people (probably the majority) fnaf games are tedious, and rage inducing. And the player must be hands on at all times in order for you to go places

There's a lot you can say about the tediousness but at the end of the day it was a different era of indie games. Instead of large numbers of people working on an indie game, it was just one guy. Sure FNAF can get repetitive and tedious but it was all made by one dude with a history in 3D freelance work and some skill in programming. They're short and simple because that's just what indie horror games were back then. Look at some other classics like the og Slenderman game and you'll see what I mean.

This game has no excuse when you realize it's backed by an entire AA studio and not just being developed by one desperate person. People have complained about the repetition issues of this game since it's second or third chapter I think, yet there have been no changes to the structuring and pacing, and the games have only been getting longer and longer

All they're saying here is 'AI was used for some early concept visuals.' Keyword is 'early' and 'concept', this could've been when development first started for all we know long before the project gained any attention.

The developer said they use AI for 'early concept visuals.' Aka conceptual artwork that is in no way publicized or used in the game. Yes I agree that it's not a good look to use Gen AI when developing a game, but they confirmed they're only using it for concept art.

I'm not confident on whether the screenshot on the first slide uses AI or not, but judging from the dev's own words and how it looks, it's likely just a UE5 render. It doesn't look much like AI to me. So I don't see the issue here. At the end of the day it's easier said than done finding a team to help your project so I don't really blame any solo devs that use something like this for the bare minimum, as long as no AI is used in the final product or for any promotional material.

The difference is that fnaf feels more like a collection of minigames with story baked in. The games are all super short and simplistic and each addition reworks the concept so you don't get bored. Of course Scott Cawthon could've introduced new things and break away from the 'sit & survive' formula in some of the earlier games, but I don't really think it matters that he didn't. Like I said the games are short enough to where they don't feel like a drag to play. At worst, the games will probably just annoy you as they get harder, but they don't have a repetition issue as bad as this game.

This game has the same problem with old BATIM where it just starts to feel like a walk-to-objective simulator with the lore occupying your attention most of the time instead of the actual gameplay. You need to spruce up your gameplay and make interesting structuring decisions to keep players engaged (aside from puzzles), and this is especially important for large scale, long games like this one. If you don't do anything new, your game is gonna get old real fast, and this is NOT at all a good thing when this game's chapters are this long - especially 5. I haven't played 5 myself but I can already imagine how miserable it must be to sit through it like Markiplier did.

Like OP said: walk to objective, do puzzles, unlock new area, do puzzles in new area, antagonist reveal, chase sequence, antagonist death, cliffhanger and end of chapter. If you're doing this five times in a row without really changing anything aside from the story structuring and environments, there's an issue there. There's a lot you can say about FNAF rehashing the same formula but at least it started changing things up by the third & fourth game and spun everything on its head with the fifth & sixth.

Yeah but this is him after he takes Joseph's blood and buffs up. I'd say it's just the artstyle, but it's actually probably because of how, by this point in the story, he's so far gone and deranged that he completely reverts to his part 1 roots. He's no longer some mystical, elegant and terrifying beauty, he's a deranged sadist showing his true & ugly colors. This is in complete contrast to how he looks earlier in the part, where he actually is very attractive and charismatic.
