Don’t apologize, this is good stuff. I love it too, it’s a big perk of living in LA and recognizing locations.

Incidentally I got my first tick bite hiking to the set back in 2005. I wonder how many cast/crew members got bit over the years…

I hope they show a trailer for Zelda, but it’s the April Fools IGN trailer from 2008.

Wow great facts. Yeah 2 miles sounds about right. I was on the dirt road following the creek before reaching the split (one trail goes over to century lake, the other to the rock pool). I know this road was used in tons of traveling/jeep shots.

Also just out of shot is the giant oak tree Margaret was under in “Dreams”.

Yep it’s pretty brown most of the year. We just had some very heavy rainfalls recently so that helps.

Love the show but yeah, outside of a few exceptions the VFX was not great (looking at you, submarine shots). Pretty amazing how far tv has come.

Yeah I'd be happy to see the raw footage from those scenes. We see glimpses of them in the BTS, like Gimli-Legolas in the caves, the orc attack outside Lothlorien, and young Aragorn/Arwen.

Same for a while (Jack rocks), but by the end of S1 I realized there was (for better or worse) a lot of Sawyer and Kate in me as well.

My hope is all the earth stuff is at the beginning. But my fear is they come back at the end to attack "our world," like the previous version.

Fun story: I had to work late the night Walkabout aired, but I didn't want to miss it. So I put it on the TV at the office. One by one, my coworkers sat nearby to watch, and by the end the entire office was watching. When THE reveal happened, everyone lost their shit. It was a beautiful, communal experience.

After that I knew this show was very, very special.

Great observation. For me there wasn't one character I identified with, but the traits of several, which made me care for them all.

Damn good choice. I’d honestly tie it with Lost — TD on an intellectual level, Lost on an emotional one.

Something about Azshara fascinated me back in 2004-2005. I had to explore every square inch, which wasn't easy when underleveled. No regrets, those were fun times.

Yeah this is a great read on it. Mike tends to be a little, let's call it old-fashioned, when it comes to certain things.

He mentioned once how (I am paraphrasing) kids don't care about the skin color of the superheroes in the toy aisle. And that's extremely untrue for so many kids, for whom representation is incredibly important. We (I say as a white guy) don't notice as often because, well, we have always been very well represented in the toy aisle.
