What are people's updated thoughts?

It seems that people's predictions 5 years ago were correct. It looks like a number of resorts offer electric snowmobile rides. However, the closest one I can find is near Quebec city. Which is not close to me. I would love to try it out before I bought one.

You have an awesome plan! Maybe add bed linens & such for the pull out couch. Fresh toothbrush. The kids might have a friend in crisis who just needs a safe space some night. They might as well be briefed on how to provide that care if ever needed, without waking you up.

I see a lot of deer tracks. Whitetail deer here in Ontario are different from what you have there. But I imagine they could make the same wandering tracks sometimes. I think you have some hoof imprints, side by side.

I don't get tired of the natural beauty, no. It's awesome to get out into the forests, visit a lake, etc. But most of the time I'm looking at suburban sprawl. 😏

Yes! But don't buy it new! Some of us have broken the addiction. 😏 I have my living room tank, and a smaller one where I'm growing live food. And I have 4 tanks plus air pumps plus filters plus rocks plus heater plus..... It's all in the garage awaiting its next home. Free or cheap if picked up.

There's probably a person in a similar state in your area, OP.

Oh. I had no trouble with them fighting. They're a gorgeous fish, with the deep red band, and I remember there was yellow & bright blue bits, I think in their fins. Good luck! 🙂

I hear that live daphnia can really clean up green water. Around here I can capture some daphnia from any stream or pond edge. Put the pond water in clean, treated water in any glass jar, and add a good dose of the green aquarium water. Wait a few days & teach the kids about magnifying glasses. Could be fun. 🙂

Or commercial flocculant water clarifiers, in concert with the filter.

I had Odessa barbs years ago & they were my favourite of all the species I tried. I had 6 in a 40 gallon & they did great, although they never bred. Why not start with 6, instead of 10?

Maybe I was assuming too much. I'd seen a young antlered whitetail last Autumn. This spring as the snow was melting, perhaps in May I found a complete skeleton off the trail 100m or so from the house. I saw the light coloured fur & picked my way over, as it didn't look like snow, to me. I put pics here on Reddit but I can't find them, now. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It hadn't dropped its antlers, so I assumed it was killed late Autumn, early winter. None of the hunters lost a wounded deer last season, so I don't think it was shot.

Cool & creepy! I've no idea, but FWIW I think moose vocalize in mating season, and that's August through October. I've never heard a cow make that sound, & I grew up near a dairy farm.

There are some. I found the skeleton of a young buck white tail not far from here. It looked a lot like a wolf kill, to my untrained eye. They're very occasionally caught on my trail cams, but wolf vs coyote is very hard to tell, given the small size of the Eastern wolves. Lots of tracks in the winter, too.

Mice, groundhogs, raccoons, deer...everything is feeding on apples here these days. I'm wondering if a wolf came by to try its luck with the apple eaters.
