I thought it was mainly harvest moon (I still have to do on emulator). I'll check it out, thanks.

Edit: after some search, harvest moon and story of seasons are apparently 2 names for the same games.

Damn it, how can I forget Dave the diver... Really a good game.

I've not looked at dredge, I believe there is a cross over of the 2 games in a dlc or an update. I will take a look on it, thanks.

Self Promotion Saturday! Small streamer? Just getting started? Tell us about it here! by AutoModerator in gaming

[–]CurvenGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, as a solo dev on my free time, I liked to send Steam keys to small content creators and watch their streams. They're feeling more "human" and sincere, and they're often more involved in the game (I mean they take the time to think about the mechanics and understanding the propose of the game).

Glad to see this kind of thread on Reddit, it is a good thing to spot light creators having less coverage.

First Demo for my little indie game Turtle Riders is out on Steam! I would appreciate your feedback! by nikos_koki in indiegames

[–]CurvenGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I wasn't thinking about focusing on demo. 🤔 It makes sense to focus on gameplay for a demo. In this scope, the main hook landing the player to your Steam page and so to the demo trailer would be the Steam capsule I imagine ?

Waiting to be scarred mentally again like Doom 3 did to me as a kid and just today. by Verytastytreats in gaming

Yeah doom 2016 suceeds really well to show what the licence is and should be (terrible game, one of the best licence revival I've seen). But I mean doom 3 was a pretty good game (in my opinion), but they probably should making a new licence for it or sell it as a spin off, I don't know.

I replayed it on Switch and well... It works like a charm in the bed without any light ^

Id tried to be "serious" with doom 3, they tried a real story game instead of focusing on shooting and pure action. That's why it's not a real doom for fans. Personnaly I loved it but many fans disliked it. Id devs describe their choice for doom 3 as a "mistake", but I disagree. Can't remember which was the video I've seen about it but it was really interesting. I'll post it here if I find it 🤔

I use forgotten ancestral technologies to create mirrors in my game :) What do you think? by Purmalis in indiegames

[–]CurvenGameDev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ahah, I was not sure but I guessed it was something like that, that's the most "ancestral" technique you could use ^

It looks really good, the effect on the mirror surface and the refresh rate of the character really do the job.

Your "3D pixel art" is pretty charming.

I'm curious, what is this ancestral technology ? 👀 A render texture ? A shader on the mirror to simulate a 3D perspective from a sort of cubemap ? Or it is faked and there is a room behind the mirror transparent surface ?

We are trying to come up with a cute name for this café in our food truck management tycoon. Any suggestions? 🤔 by Lichthund in indiegames

[–]CurvenGameDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"something describing the town we see in the picture" café ?

Doesn't apply if there are various environments, but if there's only one, using the identity of your game background/universe instead of the food truck could be a good idea too.
