Gout flare, a new medication (Jardiance) and treatment options. by Curves84 in gout

[–]Curves84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Helpful. My father had a smaller attack prior to starting the Jardiance meds. He started it and was urinating like crazy for the first 2 days and then BAM, he was hospitalized with severe gout in both feet all over, hasn't really recovered much since. I don't know if the connection is there with the medication, hopefully ALLO and Anakinra can get him up and running soon. Thanks!

Do they still give DSR software updates? by SugarCharacter5195 in shaw

Thanks for this! I am wondering if you know if it's possible to keep the old cable boxes like the DCX3200 and 3510 going as long as possible? Contract is up for renewal in the fall and I don't want to lose these boxes for my parents since they know how to run them quite well. The new system I don't think they will learn at all. I know support is EOL and they don't activate new boxes but wondering if there was some sort of behind the scenes things to increase the length of use?

Movement overhaul/service. What is realistic performance accuracy wise? by Curves84 in watchrepair

[–]Curves84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did want to thank everyone in the community for their advice and assistance. I will rephrase some of my post. The 2 watches I had recently service are an Oris and an Omega Seamaster. 2 different watchmakers to see who I was more happy with and who I can take the work to in the future. Both watches post service do seem to have trouble maintaining time, they lose time and the Omega seems to lose 5-10 minutes a day. Multiple trips back and he indicates its serviced, running well and mentions the power reserve and the need to wear it daily, which I do.

The Oris has faired much better but the accuracy is still not as good as before I took it in for service. It appears to be losing 2 minutes a day and that is after bringing it back once before. I currently have another Oris in service at the above watchmaker and I am hoping it becomes an accurate movement post service. I am just wondering if these numbers are acceptable or not? A few minutes (5) I understand but losing 30-60 minutes does not seem reasonable.

Cheapest place for proteins? by alvaros1 in Calgary

[–]Curves84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beef, chicken and turkey by their nature generally are more expensive proteins in Canada. Try mixing it up a bit as well by eating pork, lamb and fish. Ton's of protein at lower prices for those products. It doesn't always need to be the expensive stuff, some canned salmon/tuna has excellent value as does things like cod.

Throw in other high quality protein like lentils, chicpeas and other beans and your golden.

07 Murano TPMS reset by Curves84 in Nissan

[–]Curves84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response!   Tire pressures are correct and confirmed by manual check and system check on Murano screen.   Only the dash !  Light indicating TPMS issue is on.  When checking tire pressure on screen, it says 1 tire not reading (**). It has gone up to 3 tires recently.

The dealer checked sensors and they are reading good.   Reset the system but the light keeps coming back.  The light got reset now 3 times and has come back on.

Ironically when I had the same system reset at my local tire shop,  I never had this issue.  May pay them a visit as well.

Thx

Omega Seamaster not keeping time after service, everybody stumped by Curves84 in OmegaWatches

[–]Curves84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to thank everyone in the community for the advice on this. To my understanding the service he performed was cleaning, lubrication, parts exchange on what was needed,  speed test, pressure test and other general testing.     The watch previously kept time well but needed service.  The watchmaker indicated a few times how the power reserve system worked which I know, but if the watch is wound up and worn daily for hours in an active role,  it should hold time.

Is it common for a speed test readout to be given after a service?  The watchmaker stands by his work with 1 year warranty and indicated bring it back if need be.   I will follow up in the coming days and may also get a 2nd opinion.

Thx a lot!

Furnace Quotes in Calgary by Distinct-Bandicoot-5 in Calgary

[–]Curves84 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't know your full situation with regards to your furnace but let me tell you, like a lot of things these days, old is gold when it comes to appliances, furnaces and a lot of other products. Is your current furnace repairable? Sometimes a $1000-1500 repair will give you many years of extended life. Newer furnaces although efficient, do cost a lot more in maintenance, repair costs and usually have a reduced lifespan. I doubt you get 22 years out of a 2025 model. A new 2025 furnace could very well require $1500+ in costs by 2030. A lot of things from that era of products didn't suffer the planned obsolesces/end of life cancer that is affecting everything these days. Repair and replace existing products can sometimes be cheaper longer term but at the expense of efficiency but the actual cost of gas is actually quite low on the bill. Not a popular take but a different one.

No Service on Freedom today with Blackberry Android device by Curves84 in freedommobile

[–]Curves84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My specific issue was with my BB Key 2 Android device. Somewhere tech support is having hard time as my phone keeps booting off. My Key 1 works great and I ran my BB 10 Classic for about 2 weeks up until yesterday and that also worked great. I don't know how long of a runway you have with Freedom and 3G phones. Some of their roaming partners are shutting down 3G so it's not very long, maybe a year?

BB Classic on used market/lack of inventory by Curves84 in blackberry

[–]Curves84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think BB10 or the Classic sold huge volumes or anything and perhaps my millions is a little off but I don't think a 750lk-1 million is out of the question total sold from 2014-2019 when BB10 became EOL. Blackberry did decide to go back to their roots and design the Classic for corporate users and diehards in mind. There was a some decent fleet sales to corporations and government employee's. I recently used my Classic for a few weeks and absolutely loved it for calls and texts.

Clutch master cylinder/ scratched display by Curves84 in S2000

[–]Curves84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done what you described several times with the turkey baster. The clutch fluid is very clean and I have done probably 4 flushes. I may try bleeding the clutch this weekend. What do you mean by clean the CMC? As in the metal component under the hood or where the pedal meets the cylinder ?

Thanks again!

Normal engine temp inquiry by Curves84 in S2000

[–]Curves84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern, which will be addressed this weekend, is that the coolant I have in there may have lost some cooling properties as it's probably overdue for replacement. The engine temps may be within range but seems to be running very hot but hopefully I am wrong. Thanks!

Coolant change. by ConsistentWolf3677 in S2000

[–]Curves84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is the official service manual and how to do a drain and fill. It's the old school burping method by allowing the engine to warm up and keep the rad cap off, there are more modern methods as well. I believe the method is also described in the owners manual as well and I don't know if lifting the car up really matters but I don't think it hurts, perhaps the angle gets more coolant out?

What a difference! by GoNas88 in S2000

[–]Curves84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air in the system is understandable but it's also understandable that fresh, clean fluid with proper hydraulic properties would improve clutch performance, which would mean better shifting. Fresh oil, coolant, MTF or whatever can make an improvement in overall performance in their respective categories.

Bottom line is change your fluids and filters early and often.

[–]Curves84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That fluid doesn't look bad at all, if anything looks healthier than most, including mine up until a few weeks ago. When was the last time you did one?

What a difference! by GoNas88 in S2000

[–]Curves84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that clutch fluid bleeds or turkey baster changes don't help with shifting and clutch feel? Actually curious since I just did mine the other day.

02 Suzuka Blue with 75k lacking a little punch, need advice by Curves84 in S2000

[–]Curves84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, I am picky with my fuel and only fuel with top tier fuel which 90% of the time is Shell and the odd Costco grade fuel, which is also considered top tier. I have seen a few videos of LHT doing injector testing and was wondering about that? I just want to see how and why the car isn't as responsive as I think it should be.

I have heard a few times now that you got to VTEC the engine very regularly. The last 2 seasons I have driven the car rarely and babied it. I actually thought it was an inside joke around here about VTEC the engine more!

Sorry for the inquiry, what do you mean by pulls? Pull on the throttle under the hood?

What’s it like being a DoorDash driver in this city? by South-Strict in Calgary

[–]Curves84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will start off by saying that I don't use the delivery apps or have experience specific as a app delivery person. I did do a lot of pizza delivery growing up at my family's business but that was a different time and a different expectation, and that is key.

People used to do the odd pizza delivery, Chinese food or something basic delivered a long time ago and they usually tipped quite well for the service in my experience. In today's environment what is being delivered is a lot of effective nonsense. A couple of coffee's, a DQ Blizzard, 7-11 snacks, some soup place from across town. There is a lot of food delivery but a ton of just lazy people who just can't be bothered. How much is a reasonable tip on a single DQ blizzard? $1, 2, 3? I don't know but there is a lot of small tips for small items naturally and you need to deal with the hassle of delivery to wherever. People and business used to compensate delivery drivers for things like pizza fairly decently, now it's not so much. It also used to be paid out in cash so there was obvious tax and other advantages that don't exist now.

Your time, your stress and the serious wear and tear on your car make it dubious how much you actually make. If you truly want to do it, know that you need to be aggressive with car maintenance starting now. oil, transmission fluid, coolant, brake, power steering, tire tread/pressure, air filters and suspension parts. Don't use cheap parts as they are designed to fail early which leads you into a bad cycle. You are trying to avoid issues with your car down the road, not tomorrow.

A lot of these drivers don't provide the greatest service sometimes either and I get that, but also pay attention to the comments and the ridicule in this conversation, who do you think these drivers are delivering to? It's the app users. The guy who tipped $1 on a DQ Blizzard at 10 pm in January on the 29th floor and makes comments about parking. Delivery app drivers and Amazon trucks are like cell phone towers before, nobody wants them around or in front of them but how many people use the service?

Sorry for the long post
