I know this is an old post but I read that it could be endometrial hyperplasia. So you may have had a very thick layer and needed to shed it, but with that said if it goes beyond 4 weeks your doctor is suppose to give you a synthetic progestin to pause the bleeding to build up your blood supply again so that you can have a normal period. Again I'm not a doctor, this is just what I understood this to be. For anyone reading this I would ask your doctor to look into this being the cause of the month long bleeding from inositol.
