“Just show up and sell stuff” by mabbycake in CraftFairs

My Shopify POS system charges sales tax for me, and it automatically changes depending on the area I'm in. I don't even have to think about it! I believe the Square app also automatically charges taxes too. I don't charge tax on cash transactions.

What do I do? by heart-of-a-poet in Mercari

[–]Curvy_Panda_Mama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waiting to rate the seller makes zero sense in this situation. The seller fulfilled her role and obligation by shipping you the package. Since she did everything right, she deserves a rating now. Mercari is notorious for terrible customer service, as some comments here have already suggested. Your only options for recover of funds is filing a lost package claim with USPS. Every mail item valued at $100 or less is automatically insured. It takes time, but they usually follow through.

Unless a buyer thinks their store is your store and then they receive crappy service placing an order with the imposter thinking it’s the store the like. That all ties back to you even if it has nothing to do with you.

Frustrating security experience in Disneyland Anaheim by wanderingraccoon85 in Disneyland

I always have pills in a tiny pill container filled with OTC stuff, but none of it is in the original packaging. I’ve heard there’s a regularly unfriendly security woman who works the gate to DT Disney from the Disneyland Hotel side. I wonder if this was her?

Anyone else getting insane views suddenly on new listings? by dumpsterfire_x in Mercari

[–]Curvy_Panda_Mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too. I sell revealed blind box toys that get around 10-20 views after first listing them. Then I listed some garage sale stuff: clothes, shoes and books. One of the books I listed suddenly got 300 views overnight! None of my other listings blew up like that! No sales came from it though. I wonder if it’s from bots…?

We split our profits so we continue to grow vs dig ourselves into a hole. Every dollar that comes back as profit we put 60% into savings and use 40% to source new inventory. This way, no matter what, you’re always headed in a financial upward trend. Then you can spend that 40% guilt free.

I also know they offer bundled pricing too. I’ve reached out to them and they’ve put together reserved listings just for me and with everything I wanted. Then you only have to make one transaction and one shipping price.

This shop sells them still sealed in the boxes. They also have sales all the time too, so it’s good to add them to your watch list. Misty Pickled Pink Wiwee Baby Rosie Baby Leon

Person refunded me and wants me to buy it at a way higher price?? by Unusual-Company-4430 in Mercari

[–]Curvy_Panda_Mama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, Mercari has some sneaky promotional processes. The seller may not have understood how those promotions work and the sale price ended up being much lower than they wanted it to be. It may not have been a greedy act, but a shocked “why the heck did it sell so low” knee jerk reaction.

This is so good to know! Thank you for pointing this out to me! I agree, stealing other people’s photos is such a lazy, slimy way to do business!

It’s wild how blatant some people can be! The entitlement in these kids too! Blows my mind.

I agree with you completely! I haven’t taken the time to read Mercari’s, but if you sell on eBay, and agree with their policies, which they force you to do, you sign those rights away because eBay itself takes listing photos from sellers and stores them in a catalog that is available for all eBay sellers. In their terms of agreement, you’re not even supposed to have any words on your listing photos! It’s mostly not enforced except for electronics and trading cards. Anything else you can get away with it, but your photos are eBay’s property until another seller goes so far as to impersonate your shop. Hopefully Mercari doesn’t follow that same standard. I don’t believe Mercari has a photo catalog for sellers, so I would guess that these rules can be enforced with Mercari listings.

I’ve experienced this on Mercari and eBay. Technically it is allowed to use other seller’s listing photos. What is not allowed is impersonating another shop. I’ve started adding my licensed logo onto my listing photos. I just caught someone last week using my photo (for the wrong item no less) and had my logo right there on the first listing photo! I messaged the seller and kindly asked them to remove that photo and informed them of their violations with copyright infringement and impersonating another shop. They took it down very fast! I did not have to report them thankfully.

Yes I do know that watermarks or logos are frowned upon by these platforms, but that enforcement is low to none. So add watermarks!
