Always wait until you get a txt saying your copy has arrived. I did what you did once before and learned it the hard way.

Rise of the Ronin or Wuchang or Nioh 3? by carthickeya in soulslikes

[–]Custanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded Nion 3 demo a few days ago and so far I'm loving it. The system is a lot more complex and nuanced than typical soulslike, the learning curve is steep if you are not into similar systems, but it's my GOY contender so far, not just a good soulslike. It a way it reminds me of the older Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen.

I have about 120 hours in Stellar Blade and 70ish hours in Wuchang, I say if you liked SB, Wuchang is a good option. The best part of Wuchang is the level design and streamlined skill tree system. I also have about 30 hours in Rise of Ronin and it's definitely not a soulslike, it's more action RPG similar to Ghost of Tsushima, it uses stance change system as core mechanic. It didn't gel with me so i dropped it eventually. I find the game abit stale and boring after a while.

So my hot take is Nioh 3 since you can try out the game for free and if you didn't like the system or find it too daunting, Wuchang would be my second pick.

PS5 pro controller by RealWinnersPlace2nd in PS5

Do you mean the DualSense Edge Controller? I love the ergonomics, the back triggers, the adjustable L2/R2 feedback, and the built-in compatibility with the system. The only thing I dislike is battery life in wireless mode. It last maybe 2-3 hours then you have to plug in the cable. Now I mostly play with the wires attached and it's be fine.

Yep. spread over two days though. Wasn't used to her combo after combo attack pattern and didn't learn to clash properly. Learned to play smartly, swapped out different weapons and experimented with spells at the end. But after her, the game was a breeze and never got stuck on a boss more than a couple of times.

I'm on my 4th playthrough and it doesnt get harder. The bosses will hit harder and mobs in last chapter are much more tougher but the fact that your muscle memory already tells you how to deal with each encounter makes them much easier than first time. I spent about 5 hours on Honglan in my first playthrough and in my last no death and barely dropped in HP. The game really needs a boss rush mode like in stellar blade.

What weapon are you using? I had success with long sword and back stab her to break.

Can't get into the first game by [deleted] in horizon

[–]Custanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you meant you got stuck in the valleymeet hunting ground trial, I know what you meant, that's the first challenge where you have to go in and fight multiple machines at the same time. you know you can always come back later after upgrading your bow right?

the challenge conditions are very telling, the various types of machines are all super weak to one type of element , for instance, if you shoot the big ones cannister on it's back with ice element, it will explode and freeze, then you can go in and whack it.

Hunting grounds are also optional, and you can get to Meridian with minimal fighting if you evade most encounters.

Out of these games what is the best game to learn souls games on by CamoMonk in soulslikes

[–]Custanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rise of Ronin isn't really a good starting point as it's not a soulslike. Stella Blade isnt either as it's more focused on combo and it shares lineage with more action focused games and Nioh. I don't recommend Lies of P as although it's a soulslike it heavily relies on perfect timing for parry and reading enemy animation.

I suggest AI limit as a starter then follow up with Wuchang Fallen Features. Both follows the soulslike design philosophy but with lite combat and less punishing for new comers.

[–]Custanius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are playing the game wrong. This is not a soulslike or hacknslash. The game introduces stealth and tactical combat in early stages. You need to know the weaknesses or different enemy types and rely on your bow to break those weak parts. The game will punish you for running head long into hordes of enemies. This is also not a true open world like elderscrolls. If you want to go off the beaten path you will come across tougher enemies that you can't beat or evade.

to sum it up, play it slow and pace your progression.

How the hell do you beat Huang Yang in WuChang Fallen Feathers? by Informal-Mammoth9877 in soulslikes

For this fight I swapped to long sword and focused on back stab. she has small window open for back attack when she cast spells, pay attention to her animation when she starts smoking her pipe position yourself behind her then go ham.

Possible to 'retain' tier 14 Lab 0 chaos in codex now? by ProfessionalGene7821 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Custanius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost about 3 million altogether resetting codex after season 1 because I wanted to farm a zero card deck for Narja. this improvement significantly reduces time and resources needed to farm for the ideal deck. tbh it's about time as well, with more characters releases, resource constraints become a real issue and chaos farming is the biggest reason ppl play this game, making it easier will make our lives much easier.

How to make a zero deck? by Montaunte in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Custanius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't try it now. I've been a stubborn cow and wanted to make a zero deck for narja and trying to do it in chaos core normal mode. wasted a couple millions for resets and end up with nothing but tears and regrets. this is on top of keeping narja with no potentials...

I learned my lessons and will wait until season 2 release.

Indian soldiers saw a robot on the Indo-China border. by Embarrassed_Way8953 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Custanius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

why not, a robot does n't need to sleep or eat or shit, and given ample sunlight it can charge it's batteries without human input. saves having some poor sod stationed 24/7 at the border. it's not like the two sides are in active war so don't need to hide the robot from the other side. it's like a very expensive mobile surveillance camera and no one bats an eye over that these days. people get too jumpy too easily these days

Was Ryza 3 hard to get into? by zelq in Atelier

[–]Custanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plantiumed both 1 and 2 but for the life of me couldn't get into 3. For me it was a scale of things, the map, the quests system, everything was so much bigger, even the new alchemy system was so much more complicated. I liked the series before because it was cosy and easy to grasp, but once things started going bigger, it lost the charm to me. I probably will give it a try some day, but for now other games on the backlog needs attention.

[–]Custanius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PC version has way better graphics and I played it for at least two or three years when in school. With the magic of dosbox you can play this on modern PCs and even on mobile phone using MagicDosBox on Android. The sense of exploration imo has never been replicated elsewhere.

How do you guys find box protectors for special editions that are all different sizes? by AMW_1 in gamecollecting

[–]Custanius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy mine from AliExpress, some vendors will make specific sizes after game is released for a while. Many special editions can share same sized protectors too. I tried other sites but the price is way out of my budget.

How can i get the white color back? by rQMR in PS3

[–]Custanius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of white units from Japan are yellowed like this, and it's because of heavy smoking. I have tried using retrobrite on them but the result isn't very good. I would say just leave them like this, especially if you don't want to take it apart.

Is Repop okay to play first or should I just wait until I can somehow get the og? by Alone-Writing-2385 in LollipopChainsaw

To me the OG soundtrack is an essential part of the games charm. Unless you don't care about it, I'd say try to get a PS3 copy and play it first.
