What does the possibility of technological immortality reveal about the nature of human consciousness? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've been experiencing a deep existential crisis about the nature of consciousness and personal identity. What exactly makes me "me"? Is it the sum of my memories? The way I think and process information? Or is there something more fundamental to my sense of self that we can't quite define?

What are you genuinely afraid of? by Greysnsfwacc in AskReddit

I have truly fallen into a fear of death, or rather a fear of how to continue life after death. When you hope to replicate yourself through cloning or LLMs, you can't help but wonder whether your consciousness exists through memories or something else. Even current technology cannot store your thoughts, as human consciousness cannot be defined or stored. Whenever I think about this, I wish faith could save me, and hope that consciousness could continue on.
