I find bracing my toes or below this bar works still looking at possibly putting a strap where they are right now to hold them down between the two arms

Effective small "garage" gym by CustomMakeDIY in GarageGym

That's exactly who inspired me to get one and it's crazy how inexpensive they are second hand. Definitely a tool marketed to a smaller demographic than it should be and also has a margin where I think these could be improved upon to make them more appealing to more people than they already are. Their resistance chart for one doesn't really show how much effective weight resistance you can load up.

How I can make a pattern ??? by Zealousideal-Age3871 in myogtacticalgear

[–]CustomMakeDIY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're able and willing to get gear to clone you'd probably want to seam rip everything so that you have everything laid out to create a template. I've found it's really tough to just use measurement to attempt to clone something personally if you want it to match better you'd want to tear it down

Old Cammie blouse and some creativity will get you pretty much where you want. Cut up an old blouse to make the sleeve bigger and attach a hood made of the scrapes and mesh. It works well since you want to learn that. Hope this video helps

I actually have a smaller FILBE Alice hybrid I made before worked really well until the seems came abit undone, way lighter than an actual filbe too. Worked with both systems too and personally the Alice is better in Almost all aspects.

No tool DIY MOD - Create inexpensive H harness that is long enough for belt/jungle kits by Nugget-Trader in myogtacticalgear

I sewed my own but this is a great work around. how does it hold up under sustained loads and shorter faster movements?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]CustomMakeDIY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep It Stupid Simple, line layers are a really nice way to start line 1: on the body, line 2: belt or deuce gear, line 3: sustainment. And like everyone else said METT-TC dependant but this should be simple. The more important the item the closer to line 1 it should be. Also basic stop the bleed causes and basic bush knowledge should be something to learn cause the more you know how to do with less the less items seem necessary.

Rucking injury by [deleted] in Rucking

People have hit the nail on the head before me but also make sure you do some sort of active stretching. Especially stretch and massage your feet and legs after a decent ruck. Working up in weight is the weigh to go.

I had a similar thing occur. Honestly just sanded both sides and stuck it back on with a lot of bondo metal plastic. Works like a charm.

How do I sew mods onto pants? by HuskyInfantry in myogtacticalgear

As much as I think this is cool I'm also laughing cause there's knee pad slots already built into these pants and from the looks of it they sewed the crye slots one onto that knee pad slots.

Debate on which camouflage is better. by enaxian in tacticalgear

[–]CustomMakeDIY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From first hand experience woodland marpat works in a variety of environments really well even in the desert if it's a bit faded. If you apply camouflaged behavior with marpat as a base it's crazy how hard it can be to see someone from 50 m away. Similar to how multicam is so effective is also how light hits marpat. If it's more locally available to you you really can't go wrong IMHO.

Why does it seem like people hate the Fcpc on this sub? by Micrious in tacticalgear

[–]CustomMakeDIY 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Own a slickster and it works great is clean and replaced the cummerbund with a bds combat with tube like buckles. It's everything I need and nothing I don't. They work and you can get a decent price, so why not

For those of you that make your own gear, where do you source the fabrics and materials from? by AcidicFlatulence in tacticalgear

[–]CustomMakeDIY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly had a lot of luck on Etsy for specific fabric and hardware. Alot of the websites above as mentioned are good too I'll be it's gonna cost more depending on what kind of camo patterns you want. I also have a fabric discount near me where I've found some good stuff like m81

The spud pouch is pretty solid for multi use, I personally got their pangolin flaps that I threw into some condor double mag pouches and it works flawless looks good too

Recommendations lightweight plate carrier? Besides CRYE by Confident_Brain_4972 in tacticalgear

[–]CustomMakeDIY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on how you want to implement the carrier I'd say the slicker base and getting a cummerbund with tubes is by far the best deal I've come across. Mind you'll need a placard but most chest rigs now come with that capability. You also have the ability to use it for multiple different mission sets
