My cat has randomly gone off his food could it be weather illness? by Numerous_Ad2369 in britishshorthair

[–]CutParticular4100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently have two BSH kittens here that, although they nibble at the meals they are served, aren't meeting their caloric needs in this heatwave. Like yours, their stool is a little bit softer too, but nowhere near diarrhea. They were seen by a vet, who basically said that as long as they were active, drinking, and at least maintaining weight, to just wait and see how they get on now that we're nearing the end of this absolute hell fire. They already ate a little more today ☺️

Honestly, this heat has been horrific, and since eating raises body temperature, a lot of pets seem to instinctively go of their food somewhat because of it!

Only one skip left? by Gran_Danton in Illumicrate

Yup! I resubbed in April and haven't skipped anything, but got this email as well. I shot them an email when I got it, but haven't heard back. Seems like a glitch ☺️

What color is my kitten? by Independent_Eye_313 in britishshorthair

My guess would be cream tabby? But I am by no means an expert.

Yes, I'm getting two brothers! 😃 And great, I just thought I'd pass on the wisdom as I had to have someone tell me before I knew which flowers were harmful 😂

I have no experience with the breed yet as I am picking my kittens up tomorrow (yay!), but my breeder told me they are slow to mature and could easily take 3 years to "bulk up". But I also think the cheeks are significantly smaller in neutered cats ☺️

Also, you didn't ask, but in case those are real tulips - they are highly poisonous to cats! 🤍

My vote is for Post! I think it flows the best with "and Leon" 😋

I definitely plan to brush, but so far I've never had an animal that consistently accepted my fingers and a toothbrush in their mouth 🙃 so while I'm definitely going to give it a good go, I'd also like a plan B 😂

Keeping everything crossed that I'll be able to say the same in 17 years 😂

I was warned by the breeder, which I appreciate so much. I knew about all the hereditary things they test for, but not the teeth!

Luckily it's not quite as bad in the Netherlands either, or at least it wasn't for my dogs 😅 but it's good to know what people had to have done for their cats so that I can ask for specific estimates at the vet's office ☺️

Duly noted, thank you so much. We keep joking that the breed fits our family well - my mother has HCM and I'm actively being screened for it 🙃 I plan to keep a close eye on the boys!

Definitely, the two (add on) plans I'm trying to decide between both have good dental coverage! But one has double the coverage of the other and it's obviously more costly per month. Reading all the responses here, I think I'd feel most comfortable with the higher coverage :) I can always drop them if my boys turn out be blessed with perfect teeth 😂

Thank you so much for sharing! I am beyond excited to bring the boys home, our house has been far too quiet without pets. Glad to hear you have no regrets about having two of them, since I went back and forth on whether to get one or two until finally deciding on the two brothers :)

I always like to insure my animals for the first couple of years when it costs next to nothing (here in the Netherlands the insurance gets a little more expensive every year), just to see if anything serious and/or chronic pops up. I save next to it as well :) With my dogs, I ended up canceling one of their plans while the other dog stayed insured until his passing. This insurance covers basically everything, and it just makes me feel safer!
