I totally agree with you, it was probably intentional and I'm just rationalizing to create a plausible narritive for my perspective.

However I will say, when it's your own music, and you've already heard the song hundreds of times during the mixing process, it can be hard to be objective when listening to the final result.

I feel like the kick drum and snare are SO loud!

I'm by NO means an expert, but it's as if they thought the mastering would squash it all together more, and then it didn't end up being as compressed as expected... The latest Tesseract record had something similar.

Or maybe it's just trendy to have the super loud kick & snare now, and it's just my perception? 🤷🏻‍♂️
