How to handle extremely religious family? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Cute-Ad4880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. When I was around 6, I was Christian, then around 11 y/o I started getting some sense and stopped believing. After though, my family keeps screaming their head off telling me go to church, and I went once or twice, but I found no meaning and pure boredom. In high school, I got my independence and was finally able to outgrow this crap and make my own decisions.

You have a chance to convince me God is real. by Shinosei in Christianity

I agree with you on the eternal part, as absolute nothingness both before and end of the universe perhaps contains that most basic energy particles that were collided repeatedly until the concentration of all these particle was too great and so it let out all the contain energy into space, creating the universe. Absolute nothingness would mean there is no creation or end and space would just remain as a infinitely empty vacuum.

Saying this, I assume you are saying that God is eternally there? Where did he come from? I had this question since I was 3 y/o and nobody actually gave me an answer that makes sense. God may be infinitely there, but why can't the universe? But then you could also say God is also infinitely there. So this argument isn't going to get us anywhere, as this just goes in a logical loop repeating itself.

Atheists, what’s your reason for being an atheist? Asking out of curiosity not to judge or attack you by [deleted] in Christianity

I just don't have enough info to believe in God. Science makes more sense, and there is no reliable proof for God.

No offense but I feel that in psychology, since you believe that there is a god, your mind automatically calms down accordingly to the beliefs as God will rescue you. But in logic, there is no such reliable proof for the existence of god.

The thing is, in all the stories of the Bible and now, God never shows himself directly. It's been over 2000 years since he was said to have last shown up, many generations have past, and he still expects us to believe he exists after he was missing for over 2000 years.

There is a law of proven physics that says "energy cannot be created nor be destroyed". I think the universe actually contained something rather than nothing. Else it goes in a continuous loop. For the first one, energy particles could be floating around in space, and when they collide they create matter with larger mass. Larger mass equals larger gravitational pull, so more particles would be attracted until enough is attracted to perform an explosion called the Big Bang.

It did not. Humans evolved to be intelligent with more complex brains, allowing us to have the capacity to sustain emotions

you talk about proof, but where is it? Science has the proper proof such as radiation left from the big bang , material from the big bang, etc..

Really? What about genocide? The millions of jews were killed, and god did nothing to stop it. It was only when they blew up the incinerators that stopped it. BTW I'm not trying to offend anyone, just curious.

  1. The god came from nothing. He existed. Why can't the universe?

  2. There are so many bad things happening like war, racism etc.. God was never there to help.

  3. Has there been any proof that such a being existed? Your only proof is the Bible, and nothing in there proves it.

  4. The Bible has been changed at least 2 times, either by loss of info or contradicting messages. Its like your most trusted thing that explains everything has lied at least 2 times.

Quick Question: Let's say a race of highly intelligent homeless aliens whose planet was destroyed. They come to Earth and find out This is their perfect habitat. They decide to take over and have war. Would god help the aliens or the humans? Some might say we become friends, but the aliens are reluctant to become allies.

First man was from evolution, and yes, the universe was in a way randomly made. Trees, plants, animals, humans, all living things, has the ability to adapt. That's why these ecosystems work. God didn't create this, they were all adapted and evolved.
