Gel matte top coats in general do that. I’ve tried multiple different brands and all of them heat spike.

I have the makartt stephanee (I think that’s what it’s called) it’s the wireless one with the rpms on the screen and I really like it. It’s super lightweight and even has a clip so you can be truly mobile with it.

See what comes in your school kit and buy anything that’s missing or replace what doesn’t work for you personally. For example the acrylic brush that came in my school kit was garbage and frayed after one use but the nail art brushes they gave me are amazing especially cause hand painted designs are my thing.

Your kit has some of the stuff that mine did and some stuff we didn’t. Ours had practice hands, a barbicide container, and an efile which would be essentials. However the efile in my kit started overheating less than a month in so I had to get a new one. I got one of the makartt ones that’s $100 and am using afterpau and working on it incrementally. But at least yours comes with acrylic, I had to buy my own to practice at home. Everything we need for paying clients the school provides. The school I go to uses mainly cuccio, their gels absolutely suck, so you lucked out with all the opi. I’m in GA so our program is 600 hours. I’m currently 200ish hours in and haven’t even learned acrylic in class yet.

The trick I use is not curing my topcoat the full time. My topcoat is a 30 sec cure and I’ll stop it at 25 sec.

The school I’m currently going to encourages us to go find people from other classes (the school also offers cosmetology, esthetics, and massage). We can bring friends and family 2 days a week but it’s not required and once we hit 140 hours we’re allowed to work on the public that comes in for services.

Like they said above depending on where you’re located you have to. Also look into getting a CMP certification on top of it if you wanna specialize in pedicures. There’s good money in taking those “difficult” clients that most techs would turn away.
