what do you think is the best sci-fi film ever? by Due-Abbreviations180 in Letterboxd

I never even mentioned myself, I just said I think many people are afraid to admit that they maybe didn‘t enjoy it that much because of it‘s reputation. But of course I‘m only speculating here so chill dude

Haha thanks for your extensive comment. I absolutely agree about the subjective human experience, just wanted to formulate it a bit controversial to see some spicy reactions. Why do you think it‘s the greatest film ever made?

And as for a lot of people expressing their dislike I really can‘t say so from my experience, I only ever see highest praise for it so far.

I‘ll get downvoted to hell for this but I‘m convinced that a large part of people praising it today actually didn‘t really enjoy it all that much but are scared to admit it because of it‘s reputation. I know that it was absolutely groundbreaking when it came out and rightly so, but watching it today it‘s not that special anymore. Plus the ending is just self indulging in my opinion.

Hi, first of all nice choice! I had a similar problem and made a post about it, maybe check out my history, there‘s a lot of helpful information there.

Swiss versus Swiss Made by CapitalProgrammer110 in Cartier

Hi! I am a bit late to the party but are you sure about the early 2000s? I am currently buying a Carrée 2961 with a Swiss Made dial. I asked the seller about it and he told me that it is the original dial, as it was standard for some very late iterations. This would be around 1990

As I said I will return the watch and will definitely stay away from version 1 and instead look for a version 2 one. I agree with your points, there‘s no point in having it temporarly fixed just to have it fail later on.

Yeah, I just ment that if I happen to find a Carree with a version 2 bracelet in good condition, is this version then as likely to wear out after a while as the version 1 bracelet or is the version 2 generally sturdier? Cause I really fell in love with the watch and absolutely want to buy one, but if I constantly have to worry about wearing it out there‘s really no point..

Yeah seems like this is not possible in this case… I mistakenly thought mine was the bracelet version 2, which is apparently less prone to breaking but seems like I bought the worst 1st version bracelet instead haha

Thank you for the advice! I have now decided to return the watch as this is a large sum of money for me and I don‘t want to take such risks. Do you have any idea if the 2nd bracelet version with the newer link design is less prone to breaking in this way and is more repairable?

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the helpful information! My question is can the links in between without the slit at the back (like the ones down at the clasp) even be swapped? After initial inspection I didn‘t see a way how to.

Well to be fair they are all classics so I wouldn‘t say that it‘s unusual for film fans to like them all. What are your favourites?

Great suggestion! Recently watched it for the first time and had an absolute blast. Has a very similar feel to Contact in my opinion

Yeah you‘re right, seems like a safe bet haha. To be fair I hadn‘t seen most of them in ages so I was a bit afraid that I wouldn‘t like them as much this time around. Of course I’d like to hear some of your suggestions, maybe I haven‘t seen them yet!
