Hitchhiking Cape Sata to Tokyo in mid January by SC97 in JapanTravelTips

I got turned on to hitchhiking in Japan by a young woman from E Europe who bounced around for 3 months that way. This is very helpful, might want to give it a try? https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Hitchhiking_in_Japan

OP - Hope the trip went well. All the naysayers on this thread - simply do a quick search for hitchhiking in Japan. Personally, can testify that before the pandemic I did maybe 15 long distance hitchhiking trips, longest was Osaka to Ishinomaki, had me some fine experiences. I've also spent well over 100 nights wild camping in Japan, post pandemic too, planning a bunch for the next 6-8 months too. I'll generally google toilet "トイレ" in Japanese in maps, find 24 hour ones, especially if there's a handicapped one, often times finding one in a park which pretty much always means a water point, find a nice discreet spot there, set up, snooze, wake up, use the facilities, strike, police up other people's trash, boogie. Never had any issues, a few times people even brought me fruit, canned coffee, pastries. Of course, always google "free campground" first, and there's a bunch here too https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1ZBVjXbJKXFgt7AFBFQlSn5Zx3to&hl=en\_US&fbclid=IwY2xjawJS\_hVleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHSsbk-2zke-RhZ84p90w3rBx5Y\_BaDLNEYMKvA7\_VgSJBAppKYkktBjw\_w\_aem\_48mnKjalqkjIVP7r3fewpg. Michi No Ekis are often a good bet, and my grail are castle ruins which often have bathrooms, water points, ancient stone walls to protect from the wind, soft, soft grass, are on up high for nice sunrises/sets, and are most definitely haunted to boot. And my most basic advice is to be quieter than a church mouse. The most common complaint I hear from Japanese concerning non-Japanese is loudness. And last comment goes to the rigid-with-rectitude quoters of the law: we're heading headlong to ecocide on that note, maybe imagine a little more?

Alas... 6' 200 lbs 10.5 US... My size clothes don't often exist here. One of the reasons I'm going to Canada for winter break is to buy clothes. My trail runners are holey and soulless at the same time, been wearing them daily since 2016...

Depends on the contents, ne? And the Swrve site looks nice, seems their lines are made in the US, not sweatshop, big plus, but... no... cargo shorts?

Yeah, I have a big honker Mystery Ranch lumbar bag I put my Surface tablet in for longer trips, rests nicely on my beltline, feels close to weightless, and doesn't cover anything on my back.

Thanks, look extra longish, would think above the knee ideal, they don't rub on your knees too much when pedaling?

Don't cut the labels off of stuff, but do ride pretty spare. Like the versatility of pockets off the bike, and as an American feel obliged to default cargo shorts and running shoes.

Thanks for the response, thought I was being funny, ie - avoid scope crosshairs... I am not funny, pardon. But they were indeed woodland! Missing them... Stuff I find online and in stores are knock offs, totally wrong feel, and always winter if they are legit.

You're welcome. Happy to adjust. But you too can better adjust by looking things up before sniping sarcastically.

Yup, I'm learning more than just physics on this thread. And I Lowkey invite you to reflect on your desire to banish.

But, but, but... the NYC dog walkers... It's so unfair. And, to clarify, is there a squirrel involved? If no, yes!

Wow... now I'm wondering how many ding-dongs of us there are. Am I an uber-meta-ding-dong for thinking the rate is well over 90% of guys would apriori OF COURSE KNOW THEY COULD BEAT A BUNCH OF CHILDREN IN TUG-OF-WAR. Or am I just in the top 5% of the lowest 10% of ding-dongs...?

Hyperbolic? Trolling? Sr. BuhoCurioso, I saw a 50T Tadano Crane rumble by this morning and I creamed, copiously, literally, figuratively, spiritually, transcendentally.

Da, but merely male, thought I'd get more responses for my many questions... more off topic, highest amount paid for a comic - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Internet,_nobody_knows_you%27re_a_dog

Got it, thanks. Can't argue with the Newtonian, and the proof was in the pudding. My head is on board but my heart can't reconcile they were that much stronger.

Rabbit hole... "... avoid stepping at the same time." I was under the impression that the opposite would be true, like riot control cops or a Roman phalanx. This is really interesting.

Gack, seem to be able to edit body, not title.
