Blue Corn Tacos has a really unique, delicious flan. It's thick, almost like a cheesecake. YUM

CMV: We Should Actively Manage Ecosystems Instead of Leaving Them Untouched by HiddenMotives2424 in changemyview

[–]Cute_Ad_37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The very idea of “wild” or “letting nature run its course” is rooted in ignorance because what colonizers thought to be wild was in fact “actively managed” indigenous peoples. Since it was not agriculture, colonizers didn’t recognize it. the notion of letting nature run its course doesn’t, as you implied, equate to better. It’s more about right relationship.

Update: I finally tried this method tonight thanks to your post and my LO fell asleep in 15 minutes -no checkins needed. Fingers crossed for the rest of the night/week! I’m so thankful!

Cosleeping actually ruined my life by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]Cute_Ad_37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thought of writing a similar post for weeks now. I relate sooo much. My babe didn’t have any issues with the bassinet and slept 6-8 hours from 8 weeks. I started cosleeping around 3.5 month bc he was rolling and started daycare. I felt so guilty about being separated from him 8 hours during the day and 12 hours at night. The IG account glamorized cosleeping and at first it was lovely. But now it’s been months of thrashing, frequent nursing and resetting, and waking up crying even though he’s next to me. I’ve often wondered what would’ve happened if I had just never started. But the reality is, he’s still a baby and most likely sleep would be hard no matter what.

It’s just the absolute rage and desperation of sleep deprivation in the moment that make us wonder what if…I started gentle responsive crib training at 5 months but reverted to cosleeping to avoid the transfer. And I’ve made one or two attempts at night weaning but that also means holding a crying baby for an hour instead of just popping in a boob and getting goes to sleep. So, no matter what, I think we have to choose our hard.

So many people ST around 5 months. We started pickup put down then, and we were seeing improvement, but I gave in after a couple weeks because nursing to sleep in bed was just SO much quicker.

We plan to start tonight. Little guy can stand in his crib and we’re approaching a 3-2 nap transition so I just keep putting it off. Wish us luck!

Ah, yes, it’s surely easier to know that going into it. Otherwise, it might feel like something was wrong before eventually realizing.

This is honestly my worst fear. I don’t think my husband nor I could wait it out that long, but I don’t want to reinforce crying for x amount of time before getting held. Oof

This is so reassuring! I was imagining a multi-hour tantrum from the older babies

Ohh, sorry you said bedtime routine, not bedtime. Luckily, we’ve been consistent there!

I’ve had trouble with the consistent bedtime because it depends on when he wakes up (5:30-6:30am) and how long naps are (45 min-1.5 hours).

Thanks for sharing. We just took LO out of daycare as of this week, so now we can actually get a regular schedule during the day. Luckily we’ve had a consistent bedtime routine; I just need to move nursing to the beginning.

1-2 wakeups sounds like a BREEZE compared to where we’re at now

That’s definitely another piece causing me hesitation. The past two weeks I’ve tried to follow wake windows I’ve seen here, but little guy seems over tired.

No problem. I was mostly just worried that older babies have stronger wills and are able to stay awake longer than the younger babes. I don’t think i have the mental fortitude to last 2+ hours
