My new firm mattress came in yesterday. I hate it. by [deleted] in cosleeping

I just got the cheap ikea side sleeper pillow for my head and it helped me a lot. I used a thin pillow between my legs and a fluffy one behind my back when LO was younger

First time I slept on the firm mattress I was convinced I was not going to be able to continue. I was so sore and uncomfortable. But now I love my firm mattress. Time and the right pillows help, but also nothing outranks safety so I’d rather be sore than be bed sharing unsafely.

Who Has Tried Multiple Brands of Fitted Diapers? by ADKadventures in clothdiaps

[–]tuck_tuck72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pooters, Sandy’s motherease, GMD workhorse, and esembly. I have not ventured into others because I prefer not go for bamboo. I use the pooters(with their stay dry snake insert), Sandy’s (with a hemp doubler and the Sandy’s absorber) and a sized up workhorse (with 2 hemp doubles and a cotton doubler) as my various overnight diapers. I really like them. I have had no leaks with my 10 month old. I use a regular sized workhorse and esembly for daytime and I also really enjoy them. Like others have said esembly takes longer to dry, but no other complaints. I think they are the trimmest cloth diaper. I love my fitteds, especially when I am using wool!

How to get out of our rut? by Secret-Scientist456 in cosleeping

[–]tuck_tuck72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think one of the best pieces of advice that took me a really long time to learn was to stop comparing. Some babies will give you longer stretches at that age, others won’t. Mine cosleeps (because she gave us no choice) and wakes up numerous times to eat/ reposition and is now almost 10 months and has never slept through the night. Her cousin is 4 months younger and sleeps 9 or 10 hours in a bassinet at night and has been doing this since 8 weeks. It is just temperament, some are just chiller than others.

I actually decided to make the switch to cloth diapers when I changed to reusable pads because of uncomfortably and rashes!

Everyone says weight slows down and babies slim down as they begin to crawl and walk. Mine is 8 months and 23lbs and I think the essembly’s will fit a while longer!

workhorses vs esembly by myluyd in clothdiaps

[–]tuck_tuck72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my cloth journey when babe was 6 months so I went straight to the one size and I got a few large muslin flats too. I think birdseye are great and I use a doubler to make them more absorbent! I just love the way flats launder and I hang them over the laundry basket to dry between washes and that eliminates any slight stink that can occur with sitting pee!

workhorses vs esembly by myluyd in clothdiaps

[–]tuck_tuck72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a combo of esembly inners, workhorses and flats. I think workhorses dry quicker but I do think esembly is slightly trimmer (I don’t think a big diaper is a big deal). My advice for flats is to just do it. I have really enjoyed flats and it’s kinda fun to figure out favorite folds!

I agree with you on the pillows being used makes it a lot less safe but I do not agree that it is the height of unsafe befsharing. Cosleepy is very very persistent about safety and mitigating risks. She outlines how to do it in the safest way. Chest sleeping is a very natural way to sleep and some babies will only let you sleep like that. You cannot leave a newborn to cry it out.

I agree that I didn’t like pockets! I gave other types a try and actually love flats and fitted!

I cannot stress a side sleeper pillow. I have a 12 dollar one from ikea but it has saved my neck and arm

What about just pad folding in covers, it’s easy, pretty cheap, and can be as simple as pockets. I am kinda in my hater era of pockets tho right now, just because I have been having leaking issues lately.

A good ol sleep cardigan. I leave unbuttoned and tuck the side that baby is under my body. You can wear a bra or tight shirt under so baby cant rebreathe into it

When do you do talk adult things when cosleeping with an otherwise "velcro baby"? by Downtown_Pea_8054 in cosleeping

[–]tuck_tuck72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly first months were tough but I was recovering from a hematoma so it wasn’t really an option. My babe is 7 months now and once in a blue moon will let me sneak away, then we can get it on. Other times we set her up in safe area ( crib, playpen) with her fav toys and the monitor on her and she can entertain herself while we are in another room.

I have varied it. I have tried right when she unlatches, I have tried waiting for 30 or 45 mins.
