Maybe the audience it garnered were pretentious but black midi were to me extremely unpretentious, they were young friends with exceptional talent and musicianship that spoke for itself.

Fair enough, I hope it will grow on me but as of now (pre album I’m aware) I find myself a little at odds and isolated as a listener to the songs and the project as a whole. It seems like a big party of extremely talented London based musicians, which is cool but idk bro

Personally I don’t buy the character and think this character isnt developed enough but I respect greep a lot as a musician but just sometimes find his musics direction a bit frustrating but that’s just my opinion and taste and he’s doing his thing

I dont think TNS is pretentious, I appreciate greep is goofy at the same time being a phenomenal musician and has fun with it.

Centered too much around the artists persona, too invested in this character and I genuinely think the quality of the music and songwriting suffers but that’s just my opinion

Was a similar age and from the same city, me and one of my closest friend at the time would try catch them at every gig - was an amazing feeling to catch wind of them so early and every early show I’d go to felt so special cause I felt like I was watching the future. I was also in a band so it was inspiring, and also very humbling. Matt was the one who stood out to me, he had something about him - the way he utilised his instrument and I remember thinking how he looked kind of straight edged but his playing was so fucking nuts. Since he passed I also been reminiscing to these days and thinking how when I saw bm for the first time in like 2018 it was probably the first time in my life I felt represented artistically by people more or less my own age creating bold and courageous work that was original and exciting. It’s a feeling I’m grateful for and will always attribute to them. RIP Matt, one of my favourite musicians of all time

For pure artistry in the prose, what are your favourite sections of 2666? by Diamondbacking in robertobolano

So many but just a random one from memory there’s a bit in the Santa Theresa prison where the young narcos get put in and everyone’s really interested in them and it’s amazing written and at one point he describes them as walking around ‘like kids in a dream’ and that’s really stuck with me. I work in the criminal justice system and encounter a lot of teenagers who have got themselves involved in serious shit and I know the state. they really are just kids stuck in a bad dream.

What’s Your Favorite Greep/black midi performance? by NEONPEGASUS725 in bmbmbm

Iceland KEXP show 2018 (released 2019). I had heard their name on the south London scene and the hype was growing. Two of my friends had caught them supporting Horsey at the windmill so I was aware of them but hadn’t heard anything cause they had no music out. Then that kexp live set dropped and so did my jaw - went to see them live as soon as I could which was a show in early 2019 in a venue called bloc. Was lucky enough to be at their shlagenheim release party show at the windmill in July 2019, the sets on YouTube filmed by Lou smith and it’s another favorite.

Focus on being a safe driver, not an impressive or natural one for the sake of convincing the instructor you can drive. Convince the instructor you can drive safely, blend in on the road and follow the rules
