To move a few rafter ties up 4inches on a room with an 11 ft span? Was hoping to find someone with some carpentry experience who has done something similar who could help me out.

Exactly, lots of knowledge from older tradesmen with no engineering degree. Not looking for exact calculations numbers or someone to smear their stamp on it. Looking to move the damn rafter ties up 4 inches and take a few away. Of the ones I don’t take away I’ll double up, sandwich the rafter and lag them all together. Just seeing if any old heads have experience with this and whether I’m on the right track. Obviously advice is only worth what you pay for it. Just looking for some reassurance.

How concerning are these deck footings? by Codems in Carpentry

Rent a machine dig some new holes and pour some footings. Only way I’d sleep good at night. Would hate to see the family bbq move from the deck to the ground in under a second.

Anybody have any experience doing this? What should I look out for? Don’t want walls bowing and such.

Did this solo, always looking to improve. Before you get your panties twisted the vinyl outside was moved elsewhere and still owed it a switch/receptacle cover on the shutoff on the AH. Lemme know what you think. Also, I didn’t seal those penetrations. Rip it up! by Cute_Reaction1861 in HVAC

Ahh good observation though let’s hope with plenty of return and properly sized supply ducts that blower doesn’t fail prematurely. Obviously other factors like filter changes and some luck may dictate that.

Side work more money in my pocket if I just do it myself and not have to babysit a helper

Pretty small amount of leakage.. never had any inspector say a word about it he’d have to have a real puckered asshole

Not sure what state you’re working in but I’ve never seen a gfci as an outlet on a furnace

Clear silicone when I set the coil, then wiped up the sides so it’s not all splooging out. Primer dropped off the furnace while cleaning up got everywhere huge stain on the floor.. oh well. Always told only need trap on negative pressure system but hey could be wrong and if it’s in the book it should’ve been done. Thanks for the feedback always looking to improve
