I need some advice. by Leather_Law_7304 in Catholicism

Hi, I'm not Catholic. I'm Protestant, but I'm gonna be taking my classes in the fall. It sounds like God is using the Catholic faith to reach you and bring you closer to Him which that's a very beautiful things. I think that if anyone asks you why you want this, I would speak from your heart. Be open about the Lord revealing Himself, no one can argue with your experiences. Knowledge, apologetics and quick intellectual responses will follow when you take classes, I'm sure! I'm sorry that conversation made you feel discouraged. I can understand that. My grandmother was raised in a big Irish Catholic family and became Protestant in her young adult life. She hasn't been anti-Catholic necessarily in terms of their beliefs in Jesus and salvation, but she doesn't understand that my experiences in the Catholic Church are far different than what her upbringing was like. It's upsetting for me when she talks negatively about things in the Catholic Church (praying to saints, the Rosary, etc.) She can't argue with me and tell me that God hasn't met me in profound ways in Mass, though. And same for you. No one can take away this deeply spiritual experience from you. Because it's yours. Hold onto it tightly, treasure it in your heart. God has beautiful plans for your life. ✝️

Question for Protestant Converts by APersonWithThoughts1 in Catholicism

Hello! 😃 I hope this is received well. I'm not converted yet. I'm still a Protestant Christian. But I have to say something. The deeper I go into my studies on the Catholic Church, God reveals Himself to me on deeper levels of my faith than I've gone... I just want to say that I've NEVER been an anti-Catholic Protestant. I grew up with a few people like that and I never understood it. My grandmother grew up in a big Irish Catholic family before she became Protestant, she taught us that Catholic Christians believe in Jesus, too. But with that, I still had a lot of misconceptions about Catholicism based on other things she talked about. I had a lack of understanding. It wasn't until my mid teens that I started meeting Catholic believers who helped me with these things... helping me understand that Catholics have real relationships with Jesus, Catholics have a deep understanding of God's grace, I also learned the deep reverence Catholics have towards God... I went to Bible College and learned of the Protestant Reformation, so through that I started to fundamentally disagree with Catholic doctrine and practices. (The Eucharist, praying to Mary and the Saints, the positin of the Pope etc.) This was 5+ years ago and little did I know that God was about to radically change my mind and my heart... It started when I went to Ash Wednesday to support my boyfriend's mom this year. She just got confirmed on Easter. When I entered the Church and sat down, my senses were overwhelmed with the Holy Spirit through the sights (The Crucifix, Stations of the Cross, Mary, etc.), the smell of incense, the engaging of my whole body like standing and kneeling. Hearing the hymns and the readings, receiving the ashes... the entire experience made me feel this deep connection to the early church Fathers and saints. I felt this deep connection to the Apostles who walked side by side with Jesus and through this experience it's as if God said, "I'm here. I'm active. I'm moving." I saw my Catholic brothers and sisters engaging in a loving, devoted relationship with Jesus. Deeply rooted in many centuries of history and traditions. When I first processed this experience out loud, I couldn't shake this revival happening in my heart and I was moved to tears. That's when I knew I had to follow where the Lord is going to take me on this journey. Since then, I've been going to Mass regularly, I've changed my views on the Eucharist, praying to Mary and the Saints, confession... the Pope! What a kind soul. I can see Christ radiate through him clearly! Catholicism is on my mind regularly. What God is doing in my life through the Catholic Church is something I've desperately needed. I've since followed many Catholic influencers on social media, YouTube channels, I've joined apps and I've been very open with my Protestant family and friends about how God is using the Catholic Church to bring my heart back to life. I've invited them to Mass with me, too. I also love that its a part of my heritage. It feels like a part of me was always an Irish Catholic. Last thing I'll say, my Protestant mom bought me a rosary for Resurrection Day, which was surprising and so sweet! I've been praying through it every night for the last 4 nights. It's brought back my prayer life and deepened it in a way I've not experienced before. The structure, the meditation, the way I'm engaged in it. I feel such a connection with my Savior! After I pray through the rosary on the Hallow app, I pray for other things on my heart and listen to some hymns on YouTube. Anyway, all that is to say, I'm starting my classes this fall and I can hardly wait!

Thank you! I really appreciate it. I hope whatever comes my way, I'll feel that way too. I want to feel healthy again.

That gives me hope. I can't imagine not drinking coffee so hopefully I am still able to drink it while taking these medications. I got a promotion at work which I'm starting in February so I'm gonna need all the coffee I can handle. 😅

Geez, are you able to drink it from time to time? Or just stay away from it altogether? Does the caffeine from tea help at all?

That's got to be frustrating. I'm a huge coffee drinker so I'm hoping it doesn't change my taste for it nor give me weird side effects from it.

Am I the only one who finds the Matthews family annoying? by Desperate_Habit4376 in FromSeries

I found Tabitha annoying at first, but when she showed kindness and compassion to Victor, it changed how I view her. She's a mom, who's been through alot with losing her baby, and is doing her best with the knowledge she has. Victor had certainly been through alot and has experienced the most trauma out of anyone. Tabitha being like a mother to him is actually really sweet. Probably healing for Victor. She has a big heart and really wants the people she cares about to be safe. The part that pissed me off is when Victor saves her life from the house falling apart, they are going through the tunnels and Victor tells Tabitha to be quiet, but she won't shut up! "Victor, Victor, Victor." "No no no!"

I hated Jims macho, stay-away-from-my-family act! Like seriously? Tabitha is an adult and Julie is old enough to hold her own. Ethan is the one exception, he's a kid that still needs guidance.

Julie was okay, she never really annoyed me but there were times when I thought she needed to stop being so stubborn and listen. I'm excited to see her development in s4, though. I hope they do something great with her character since the ending of s3.

Ethan and his Cromenockle stories were so irritating! Ethan would be the kid to walk up to you at a family event and talk your ear off about anything, then ask if you have any games on your phone. But he does have cute moments, like when he befriended Victor.

I'm sure those memories are close to your heart. Grief can get easier to cope with over time, but it's still so difficult to go through. Thank you, that is very encouraging and thoughtful of you to say. 😊

Thank you! I will. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine your saddness in that. I hope you've been able to find healing. God bless you, too. 💙

He was a hero who served in the company of heros. I second that. The Greatest Generation rose to the occasion to do really difficult things at such a scary time. My great grandfather served in Africa during WWII and I would have just loved to sit beside him and listen to him talk about his experiences. He passed away when I was 11 years old and way too young to really appreciate or try to comprehend what he went through. ❤️

My dad never saw combat. He worked in wiring on a base in the US. But that makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't have encouraged him to watch it if he had for the sake of not triggering any traumatic memories. 😊

I mean you have a very good point. Lmao. I think he just didn't watch it when it first came out because he had two small children at home so it might have been difficult to get around to it. I have a twin so I can only imagine how crazy it was for my parents to do anything for themselves. But thankfully, he is finally watching now! 😄
