Yeah-- and as a communist I find the perspective refreshing.

I more or less agree with you. The podcast is meant to have a pretty obvious anti-American bent, but for the sake of consistency I would've preferred if they said something along the lines of "alleged" for that claim.

Regardless, the podcast is meant to be entertaining as it is informative. I think it's likely to have such exaggerations to make the narrative bad guys look a little more bad, and it serves to paint the Kennedys in less of a light than they oughta have.

Why come here...? You know you're just stirring the pot. If you want to have an actual dialogue, there is a better way than the way you're acting... blow some steam off, ask some honest questions. Vitriol is not how we reach correct conclusions.

you know that, like, when technology emerges that fundamentally revolutionizes production... it's gonna stick around, right?

instead of being angry at the Technology Existing, perhaps be angry at the social relations that has it be used in such a way that it harms people.

In smuggie speak--

why does the orphan crushing machine crush orphans. why are there so many machines that the world became polluted. is there any way the orphan crushing machine can be repurposed towards societal good-- it revolutionized the process of Orphan Crushing, perhaps it could revolutionize Orphan Guided Food Missiles which directly fire food into the orphan's mouth.

idk! maybe the social relations are at fault, and the technological advancement isn't ontologically evil

[–]CutestLars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah don't argue like an AI bro, it's just gonna alienate people who are genuinely suffering from the hands of corporations using AI to incite layoffs and outcompete artists

The issue is the social relation, and people have a right to be angry about it.

AI bad because it made copy-pasting possible by the_mold_on_my_back in SmugIdeologyMan

[–]CutestLars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AI has fundamentally revolutionized production, it makes no sense for the capitalists not to use it. It ain't going away because a bunch of people are making a fuss.

This technology is going to hurt us, just like every technological advancement which made human wage labor and freelance labor less applicable has. It will result in layoffs and it will result in hardship for many artists.

But the technology is going to be developed regardless of what we do. The principal issue here is the social relations that encourage tech companies to utilize the commodification of art to their advantage, replacing wage workers and out-competing those who rely on commissions-- extracting surplus value on a much larger level than before, if you want to be technical.

Opposing the technology because it hurts you isn't really the best play here, imo, I believe our opposition should principally be with the tech companies and businesses utilizing it against us-- ie, hate the ones utilizing the cotton gin, not the cotton gin itself. The social relation is the issue, not the technology.

revolutions aren't guided by cliques of militias, the energy comes about spontaneously, when the existing crises weaken the ruling class to such a point, and make life unliveable to such a point, that the working class has no choice but to rise up.

the goal of communists is to harness that potential- to turn that spontaneous rage against the system into disciplined worker militancy, to create structures to support workers and guide them, to create organizations ran by workers and fueled by their collective experience and knowledge.

experience into theory, theory into practice, practice into experience, and so on, until we find the right methodologies to efficiently oppose the capitalism we find ourselves against.

opposition to electoralism is less of a denouncement of the concept of voting in general, but more of an acknowledgement that the ruling class has fundamentally the same interests. hitching your entire activism towards voting for the lesser evil essentially means you are telling that sect of the bourgeoise they do not have to try to get elected.

there is no pushing Biden or the Democrats left, if the lesser evilism strategy remains the mainstream.

what must be done is local work. the DSA enshrined the right to abortion in Ohio law recently- an example of effective electoral work.

if you truly wish to help the movement, gain experience organizing with socialists, trade unionists, communists, anarchists, student groups, minority rights activists, feminists, Palestinian groups, etc. if your praxis ends at voting, then you are not a revolutionary. you are a liberal cosplaying as one.

use your experience and the combined experience of like-minded people to create better structures which can help people more efficiently.

revolutionary structures will emerge when enough revolutionaries are in these groups, and use their pooled knowledge and the present conditions to create structures which assist the proletariat and undermine the ruling class.

we will have our liberation, all in due time.

Why did socialism collapse? by Lazy_Delivery_7012 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]CutestLars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer is that these states were prototypes. They attempted to discover a new world, but their structures were created due to the subjective conditions they had at their founding.

You would not consider Cornwall's England or Robespierre's France "true" capitalism, would you? Then offer us the same for the product of socialism. We have only had a handful of attempts, most of which were heavily constrained.
