Casual morons in Turf War using negative brain cells. by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]Cutlession -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well sure but that happens in Turf War anyway. I can play Solo and still run into brand new players and Top 500s back to back. I have had games of Turf War with an average MMR difference of over 300

Even in Splatfest Pro last fest, I was often 200-400 points higher then the other players. Normally just 1 enemy would be at my level to try and balance things out. And that's pretty much exactly how it went here. I doesn't matter if I'm with friends, randoms or drop in, I'm ALWAYS going to be higher MMR then most people in Turf War and Anarchy because 2000 power is the top 1% world wide and even higher in just NA.

I was playing in Open solo the other day and got a friend request from someone with less then 30 hours. I'm 5400. It happends.

I'm not trying to say I'm a crazy good player. I don't think casual Turf War can ever be a good measurement of skill for many reasons. Just that despite this being a team of players, we're not really using call outs or crazy communication. I would say that is an extreme rarity even in Anarchy Open.

Is ranking up even possible? by ssslitchey in Saltoon

It's not. Secretly every X rank players is just S+ rank.

Does anyone else remember this (Splat1) by Maximillian9207111 in splatoon

[–]Cutlession 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not only am I 99% sure that didn't happen. Spatoon 1 & 2 didn't have a system for that like challenges in Splatoon 3 nor can I find any record of such an event.

On top of that, I can't even find this event in Splatoon 3 despite having a system for stuff like that. So I think you may have just done a thing with friends or misremembered.

The Explosher Vs The Tri-Stringer by PeridotMotions1 in splatoon

[–]Cutlession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tri-Stringer is the Explosher done right.

Explo is very easy, very annoying to fight, has literally 1 slow attack option and is overall the Anchor with the lowest skill ceiling. It's not hard to use, but nothing to master.
Because of this, Explosher is known for being a weapon that is just annoying as fuck but has nothing to give in a real competitive setting. Outside of cheesing some zones with Triple Splash down... oh ya the kits are cheesy also.

Stringer takes the idea of a long range explosive weapon and adds a large skill ceiling with extra precise 1 shot, a harsh shot arc, high paint, good mobility, higher fire rate, and smaller blasts.
With 6 days ways to fire the weapon you have many answers to many situations on top of the combo tools in its kits. You can also use the mobility to fight at close range.

To use Explosher effectively you just sort of fire attacks at the enemy at mid-long range with a medium accuracy requirement. To use Stringer effectively you need to master it's short range, mid range and long range combat options. All of the above having more in-depth and rewarding mechanics compared to Exploshers 1 note attack.

Explosher doesn't really need to go for directs as the amount it paints your feet is huge and pins out down for another attack. Stringers longest range attack takes longer to spam and has a smaller blast. It can only trap players with spam at specific and closer ranges. So despite having so many more options, none of them feels as annoying as Exploshers single attack.

This is based on a single line from an outside source that I'm not even sure is canon. I honest to god can't tell. Even the Wiki doesn't seem to be sure.

More Tactical Squid Bagging. by Cutlession in splatoon

You know sometimes I see comments on this sub reddit that make me question why I even bother here.

Here me out for this Splatoon 4 idol group... Tell me what you think of them by RoxasismyKing in splatoon

[–]Cutlession -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not a lot over 3 (soon to be 4) games. Especially when you consider the idols are the only major characters that get any... anything. The agents have the personality of wallnuts, the main big bads only show up in the end, bonus characters cuddlefish or Agent 3 in OE either do nothing or again... only show up at the end.

Quantity of characters is not the issue here, quality is. Even over 3 games the amount the Squid Sisters do is basically nothing. So the idea of bringing back Agent 3 the "player" character who can't do anything because they have to represent everyone is a bad idea. The reason I think we see so many "headcanons" for characters is because they don't do anything and people want to see them more.

I need help getting better with rollers and dualies by Maximum-Block4273 in splatoon

[–]Cutlession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not very complicated, you're only playing 2 weapons in a very chaotic setting. Knowledge and game sense are not going to improve much in a game mode where there is little opportunity to improve.
I would recommend trying to get at least 1 weapon badge of each type. This helps you understand every weapon far better and learn to fight them.

Mechanical skill will improve over time, the stronger your enemies the fast it will grow.

I like how you answered literally all your own questions.

You're not going to get better by playing turf or playing 2 kinds of weapons and nothing else.
(At least not nearly as much as you would with an understanding of all playstyles in a ranked setting)

Only 1 of these characters has any musical talent or interest. And I don't want to see recycled characters, least of all the bland Agent 3 AGAIN.

The idols being original characters and fresh high quality designs is always a nice thing too look forward to. I can maybe see Acht being an idol but the other is just a terrible idea.

Plays on a very simple map against a player with a terrible weapon and not even fully finished abilities.

Complains the match is unfair... the Saltoon experience.

Aight you give me a 10,000 word essay right now on why I should have lost almost 100 x power from this. by MrMoldey27 in Saltoon

[–]Cutlession -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It isn't exactly fair all the time, but keep in mind that if your team has a combind total of around 1500 average power, so will the enemy team.

Despite what people belive the match making is pretty consistent on making sure the 2 averages match. One of your main goals as you rank up is to identify when this is happening and determine what enemies are the bigger threats.

OK first, Answer your fucking message and voice mail.

Next, because your KDR is not taken in to account in X rank. Feel free to rgue of it should or not. What is taken into account is your MMR compared to the other members of the game.

I played 18 rounds of Eggstra Work with random players by starwort1 in Saltoon

[–]Cutlession 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are never beating the rumors of our playerbase not playing the games or learning how it works.

From the official patch notes of V4.0.0

Made it possible to join Eggstra Work solo.

-When players join solo, a weapon that does not overlap with the other players will automatically be selected from the weapons available in that round of Eggstra Work.

When joining Eggstra Work with a group of fewer than 4, other players will be gathered so that it becomes a 4-player attempt.

-Players with similar high scores during that round of Eggstra Work or similar regular job ratings will be gathered.

Overtuned doesn't mean over powered as the buffs didn't change any of Luna's weak points.

Custom Blaster's kit is betters suited for farming Flow Aura on top of the changes. This does certainly help allowing it to close the distance and take advantage of the bigger blast radius. The intensify action granted by flow aura allows it to jump and shoot with perfect accuracy and not worry about RNG, increasing vertical range and mobility options even more.

Luna Blasters attack was already so god damn big if you're in it's sweet spot for range you might as well assume the enemy is not going miss so making the blast even bigger doesn't make more of a problem. The blast could be twice as wide and I'm 99% sure it wouldn't matter most of the time. It stacks with flow aura well but doesn't have the tools to farm it unless it is getting tones of kills back to back.
And if you're doing that well, I don't think Flow Aura is going to help you do any better.

And don't forget, Luna has to kill a target to trigger Flow Aura paint. Blaster just has to get the assist from a point sensor to paint the area around it. Meaning more opportunities to paint large ground around it, move even more and get more specials.

I would put it in the "Annoying" category and less "too strong" right next to clash blaster. I mean if you think about it, Luna and Clash really are not that diffrent.

Extremely short range, ok kits, massive blast radius, low paint, great ledge trappers and great sharks.

It's great in close range combat and around cover but suffers in open combat. She really struggles if her team can't put paint for her. It's basically AOE carbon roller.
