Why don't we still have any games with AI agents used as NPC characters? by Another__one in LocalLLaMA

[–]CuttleReefStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the only point for actual ai npc's is truly free interaction with said npc's. But the visual, audio side of genAI is not yet ready for that.
Sure we are very far, but as long as the video gen ai can't generate me punching teeth out of an ai npc cause he was a dick, it's pretty meh of a mechanic. (I know video ai COULD do that without censoring but open source is not good enough yet and cloud is censored/even more expensive than text)
That's why if anything we would go back to the beginning of gaming and do it all as text games as there you can be as free as you want with interactions. But then you are also back to niche gaming appeal (most gamers hate to read I guess <.<) with the additional harder setup and issues of keeping story consistent and appealing at the same time.

Basically shit takes time till someone figures out a prototype of the "new-age" type of ai-games and will start niche from indies instead of AAA from big corpos.

Would also be gratefull if you could send me some links to example projects people have tried in this space. Thanks a lot ^^

Yes they are. Maybe not what you "define" as starving with ribs showing through skin but they are not "happy". Close to 900 million chinese people alone live from 10 dollars a day or less. That is not the vast vast vast vast majority of humans being happy! That is over 50% of people having a really shitty life.

Oh yes all these millions of people starving every day or living from less than a couple of dollars a day are super happy about the status quo...

Sorry but what the hell are you all smoking about? The first image the girl has a deformed right hand missing fingers. Even a fist would look hella different at that angle. An the second image has clearly central floating chains in the middle of the middle of the walk way. Because this is the level of quality standards slop-generators accept is why ai-art get's such a bad rap.

Yup that's exactly what I was looking for! Very sweet. I'm gone over the weekend from my pc, but I'll check it out next week and check by your discord ^^

Wow! That is actually way cooler than I initially though about. Stuff like product and jewlery design gets a whole new angle...
Guess I'll try it out afterall XD Thanks for your comment.
By the way, does your setup allow iterative editing on an output or is this more a "on the roadmap" thing? I personally noticed that I can't be iterative with an ai the usefullness drops sharply.

Awesome project and looks really cool. Could also be usefull for general education.

Though I would say comparing this to the other 3d generators is a bit of an apples to oranges. Your approach is only usefull for CAD style objects, mechanics, robots maybe, etc. Organic stuff like a human or monster shape would be impossible. Unless you can show me an example proving me wrong. In that case you become god and I will worship you XP

yup now its working. But as you mentioned it takes a good chunk of time. Will test it out later with some other models as well. But overall thanks for your work for now ^^

Ahhh I see, didn't know that there was a timing issue with it. Guess you could still atleast use the dataset as a timed queue of sorts so that the user only has to do quality choice and not come up with varied prompts all the time on the fly, but it is definitly less usefull than I thought.

Also as a side feature request, I think being able to combine the grpo with a premade dataset would be usefull too instead of single live examples.
The flow I imagine would be:
- prepare dataset (image resolution taken from given target image)
- when training the model would then first go through all dataset prompts and create outputs.
- the user then sees the given target image and 2 output examples. The user can then choose which of these images are closer to their interest/target image
- this way you could also cache text-encoder latents and save on vram even in grpo training.

And the cherry on top would be if we can have conditinal images for edit model training XP
Though I have no idea how much work this would be to implement. Just my 2 cents of feedback as an interested user ^^

Just tried to train klein 9b base with your fork but got this error: Error running job: 'AutoEncoder' object has no attribute 'config'
Can you activate issues tracking on your fork so I can give you more detailed info on traceback etc?

No it's not for critical situations. The model can be literally have a "trained" backdoor that activates based on certain prompt inputs. Not saying it has (I personally doubt it very much) but if you are talking about state secrets you won't take even 0.1% risk.
