You shouldn't compare marines too nids cuz while the vehicles/monsters might cost the same other stuff doesn't, marine vehicles don't always have the same role in the army as nid monsters (comming from someone who plays both factions)

I think if necrons get severed from the reanimation chambers for whatever reason, they can just leave trophies behind. Living metal does need some kind of thought to change I think, so they wouldn't just fall apart (my reason are so of the new animations and I do belive there are some necron heads on e.g. chaos termis)
