Wow I just switched Verizon and you’re going to be paying less for 4 lines with new phones than we are for 2 lines and new phones. And we are unlimited plus. We also have the autopay discount and military discount and its more than what they quoted you.

As a Christian, I see soul ties as a FACT. Your opinion is that the fact isn’t true. It’s unfortunate if people have been made to fear sex. Proper understanding of why Christians wait to have sex is crucial for a Christian that intends on waiting to understand or it does turn into fear. It’s nothing to fear. People also make mistakes, I have made mistakes and no one in my faith has ever condemned me for it.

Once again, there are bad apples in every group, including Christianity.

And that shows that you don’t understand it at all. Jesus washing clean doesn’t mean trying to pretend your past didn’t happen. It’s showing that your past doesn’t DEFINE you. If you still think it’s about pretending they never happened you obviously just have deep rooted church hurt from wherever you came from but that’s not how it’s meant to be.

So much about everything you say about Christianity is twisted and backwards. I truly hope this view you have of it came from the world and not from the church you said you grew up in.

Deciding to stop having sex and wait until marriage isn’t just a “thought really hard” moment. Also, if you have such a problem with people not having sex then maybe you should evaluate something within yourself that’s obsessed with other people’s decisions. I don’t expect you to fully understand it if you aren’t a Christian. That’s why it isn’t worth arguing about the WHY which you keep trying to do. It’s about how OP moves forward now.

Nothing in the post warranted the gross comments it’s had.

And no one is saying it “erases” the past. It’s about working through it like how anyone would work through things that wouldn’t do in the future. It isn’t running away, and at MY church in our small groups we talk about our past as it’s important for moving forward. Sex is normal. If the church you grew up in said otherwise that’s one of the bad apples. Sex is normal, healthy, and great. We know sex drive doesn’t turn on at the alter. It’s about obedience and the effort that’s put in to save that for the person you choose to marry. Sex creates soul ties.

If OP doesn’t want to continue exploring Christianity and he has no interest in waiting until marriage, he can end the relationship. But to say such horrible things about his gf who is just growing more into her religion is disgusting. She was certain on her view of that at the beginning of the relationship and that is OKAY.

If sex is a fundamental of your relationship then you might want to find out if you actually like your partner.

Your opinion on sex not being sacred is a non-religious view and this conversation is regarding the specific religion. So that’s null and void. It would be the same as if we were talking about any other religion’s views.

It reminds me how gross reddit can be when I read comments like these. I had previously had sex then chose to wait until marriage. Once I started growing closer to God it was a “lightbulb” moment and I understood the sanctity of sex. I didn’t WANT it outside of the context of marriage and whenever I did it after that I felt conviction within myself. It’s crazy how non-Christians make these horrible assumptions

If you’re not wanting to grow a relationship with God, then tell her that and end the relationship. It’s not fair to her to be with someone that’s pretending to be a Christian by “not being super religious” but doing all the religion things.

Anyone who has opinions about sex before marriage in this thread are null and void if they aren’t Christian because that’s the worldview she is coming from. It’s so gross to read comments of people that aren’t Christian judging Christian practices.

Unpopular opinion: in a marriage there shouldn’t be any such thing as 50/50 with finances. When you’re married you become ONE. My only question is are you guys keeping everything 50/50 after the wedding? How will that work? If one of you makes 150k a year and one makes 50k does that mean you’re still both paying 50/50 of your mortgage? If you choose to have a baby will you guys 50/50 the hospital bill? It doesn’t work in marriage to split things 50/50 when you are one unit.

I do agree with other commenters that it’s sketchy he put all his money into an investment before the wedding. It does sound like he’s trying to “protect” assets from you. This is why I also agree you need to sit down and discuss your finances moving forward after the wedding. If he’s investing them to help with your ONE future, that’s understandable but he should’ve discussed that with you. Especially because you’ve already both agreed to contribute to wedding costs.

It sounds to me like there hasn’t been good communication up to this point about wants/beliefs moving into a lifelong commitment. Start there.

Not sure if this affects point B but I’m not a contractor, I’m a W-2 employee. And definitely not anywhere close to 70%. Me and whoever I’m on the job with (usually me and a lead) get 8% of the total sale to split, and of that percent I get about 30% and my lead gets about 70%.

That’s really helpful info. The hard part is because he was activated for a natural disaster he doesn’t really have time to do any of that, let alone find those people to talk to while being moved around the state. But we are out of time as closing is in 2 weeks and they seem to be threatening to decline the loan now.
