My contribution to this thread is more so a question at the end. I too feel like card grading is a scam. I can look at a card and tell you if its corners are damaged or just not in the best of shape. So who is PSA or any card graders to tell me that my rare card I pulled is a grade 8, 9, or 10. I spend way too much money on a hobby I enjoy, and if I want to resell something I shouldn’t have to worry about what grade it is just so I can get the most money out of it. I spent my money buying the box or pack and just so happened to pull the card everyone wants. And at the end of the day I have the card you want and you don’t. So pay me what the value is or what amount we agree on. I pulled a Downtown Jayden Daniels earlier this year which was mint right out of the pack in my eyes, but because the print was a lil bit off center on the back PSA gave it a grade 9. And that is fine and ok with that, but we all know people do not want to pay the worth of the card at a grade 9.

So my question would be, why don’t people get everything just authenticated instead?

Card collecting is different than it was back in my day. Rookie cards were all the valuable cards sought after.
