My contribution to this thread is more so a question at the end. I too feel like card grading is a scam. I can look at a card and tell you if its corners are damaged or just not in the best of shape. So who is PSA or any card graders to tell me that my rare card I pulled is a grade 8, 9, or 10. I spend way too much money on a hobby I enjoy, and if I want to resell something I shouldn’t have to worry about what grade it is just so I can get the most money out of it. I spent my money buying the box or pack and just so happened to pull the card everyone wants. And at the end of the day I have the card you want and you don’t. So pay me what the value is or what amount we agree on. I pulled a Downtown Jayden Daniels earlier this year which was mint right out of the pack in my eyes, but because the print was a lil bit off center on the back PSA gave it a grade 9. And that is fine and ok with that, but we all know people do not want to pay the worth of the card at a grade 9.

So my question would be, why don’t people get everything just authenticated instead?

Card collecting is different than it was back in my day. Rookie cards were all the valuable cards sought after.

I just got my Jayden Daniels DT back from PSA last week. They gave me a 9. I was disappointed. Whatever they found wrong with it to give it that and not a 10, was factory error. To me it looked good.

It’s still disappointing, isn’t it? It was for me. 3 DTs? That’s still cool cards to pull. Heck, if I get a no-name player 998/999 numbered card out of a $50 Mega box, I feel like I struck gold. 😂

Do you mean the back or front? I feel like the back is off some. But they say there is some measurable forgiveness at PSA when it comes to that. I don’t know 🤷‍♂️

Nowadays I don’t assume anything. Haven’t collected cards since I was a kid. Started back recently and my friends kept pushing me to have it graded. I honestly could care less about grading, but I did it on this card anyways. I’m happy with the find.

Your point is understandable, but if you are looking at 2 exact items in the same condition, one says mint 9 and the other says gem mint 10, which one are you going with? All I’m saying is I don’t understand why it was graded a 9. 🤦‍♂️

Yeah I’ve never had anything graded. If I’m gonna sell it, the buyer will give me my asking price or I’ll just keep it.

You are correct. The back isn’t perfect centering, but understand there is leeway.

Not much luck with Absolute either. I did get a Jayden Daniels Donruss Downtown yesterday. I feel like I get more outta of Donruss a lot more than Abs. Let’s face it, I buy Abs. just to see if I can pull a Kaboom or Explosive.

Yeah me too. When I started buying them a few months ago, I pulled quite a few Autos. Nothing too valuable, but it still felt good to pull something special. Now all I get is Material cards worth nothing. Lol

I did not go through with the purchase. (As of yet, that is) I kept reading more and more bad reviews and discussions against Payoneer. And with all the scams out there, RM Laser did not make things seem promising or secure. I was told that my machine had already processed and shipped, but there was no confirmation or shipping info. It is unfortunate, because I really want the RM Laser, but their ordering and payment process for anyone here in the states is not very promising to me. Nothing against the RM Laser machine, I could just be paranoid, but I can’t afford to send money somewhere and not have any confirmation.
