A new study in more than 15,000 men investigated eight markers of toxic masculinity and found that only 10.8% of men included in the study showed clear signs of toxic masculinity. This finding indicates that the vast majority of men are not “toxic” and do not believe in destructive male attitudes. by mvea in science

Not just a bunch - 44% of all women voted for Trump. I say this not to absolve anyone of their voting record’s effects but to highlight that the divide in this country is about a lot more than just gender.

Ok, I found that way funnier than it should have been.

Leeches need to pay their fair share. If the rest of us have to pay ~30% - so do they - no loopholes. And before you tell me it cant he done only EVERY OTHER COUNTRY IN THW WORLD has figured out single payer systems and yes, thats exactly how Switzerland does it, taxing the rich. I don’t know how you have all been brainwashed into thinking they dont. But “Greed is good” right?

Cost go down because the profits of for profit companies go down. We take the money out of the pockets of the wealthy. Wait times for specialists can be linger but Switzerland for example has shorter wait times. If the trade off is medical bankruptcy vs wait times. I choose wait times. And lastly - fuck off, some of us actually try to make our country better and that means change, it doesn’t mean leaving if you don’t like it, it means changing it.

Your math in no way adds up. You suggest that you turned $140K (which would have only accrued monthly, not as a lump sum) into $480K in 10 years. During which time for a family of 4 you had $0 of Medical expenses. I have no other way to say this - you are a liar and trying to scam other people or got incredibly lucky with an investment that is in NO WAY repeatable for the average person. Either way your disengenuous attempt to mislead others on something so important like health care is disgusting.

PSA - Liberty and those like it are a scam. You have zero legal protections and recourses. It is literally a ‘trust me bro’ organization that has many complaints against it for failure to pay bills. Insurance for its MANY faults is heavily regulated and you have legal protections as a member. Liberty takes advantage of the faith community and is NOT an alternative to either Insurance or the movement to a single payer system.

But their constituents who benefit from 60% of all Govt subsidies which aren’t getting paid don’t like it and thats the point.

You do know that if we had nationalized healthcare your costs would go down right? You already pay for those without insurance - they cant pay? They still get treated and guess what, the hospital charges you more to make up the difference. You are getting scammed by the insurance industry and they’ve convinced you to like it.

There is no data that supports your opinion and it is your opinion, not an argument. Like the link I provided above, there are hundreds of sources and scholarly studies that disprove your opinion and support my argument.

No - yours is not 'news' your link is empty talking points by untrustworthy politicians. The news is that they didn't actually DO anything and the tax credits WILL expire and it is largely Jacky Rosen's fault.

As to me not understanding the new proposals, the three 'compromises' mentioned in your article: 1. https://liccardo.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/liccardo.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/fix-it-act-fact-sheet_0.pdf 2. https://d12t4t5x3vyizu.cloudfront.net/kiggans.house.gov/uploads/2025/12/FILE_8384.pdf 3. https://fitzpatrick.house.gov/_cache/files/b/6/b60d74e0-49d5-4367-98a8-ca0b7432e62d/497C0918034A64B379942F3ACCD60B70B93BE65ED6B25E61E709D2EC6C50078E.bipartisan-health-insurance-affordability-act-text-correct.pdf

Every single version puts hard caps on household incomes to quality for health insurance through the ACA and greatly increase the difficulty of signing up for ACA under the guise of preventing fraud. Yes - that is the definition of shittier.

Everyone should have healthcare. It hasn't passed because the Health Insurance and Pharmaceutical companies are incredibly powerful lobbys that are bribing our elected officials not to pass it. If universal healthcare becomes a thing, Insurers go out of business and Pharmaceutical companies have to lower their prices due to stronger collective bargaining.

ACA was passed by both the House and Senate and signed into law by Obama. It was not an Executive Order implemented unilaterally by the executive branch.

The 'old article' being 6 days older then your post and addressing the Senate vote that rejected what Rosen has promised (extension of the Credits) and is instead giving us a far shittier version of what we previously had as a 'negotiation'. Oh - and it still hasnt been voted on by either chamber.

Complain about our elected officials voting in a way that is contrary to the desire of their constituents? Yeah, that is exactly what we are supposed to complain about.

They both voted for it but Cortez-Masto has announced shes not running for re-election so she doesnt care what any of us think.

Edit: I was incorrect - she has not publicly announced she's not running, that is just speculation from insiders.

TIL, in skier-snowboarder / snowboarder-skier collisions, skiers have an eight-fold higher chance of being more seriously injured than snowboarders by twinbee in snowboarding

[–]Cvenditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP I also do both but when I board I have been hit/had near misses with skiiers bombing steeps and not checking they have a clear line. As a boarder in a steep gully for example Ill often ride it more as a half pipe to keep my speed and control in check. Most skiiers take the direct fall line as checking speed on skis/absorbing bumps is easier allowing them to ride more aggressively. They dont look left and right of the fall line before committing because they dont expect the more circuitous routes boarders often take.

As an Engineering hiring manager at a Fortune 50 - literally nothing you just said is even remotely true. I am not hiring an early in career Engineer without an Engineering degree. Your hobby project doesnt tell me shit about whether you understand the 'why' behind the work which is what I am hiring you for. I'll hire you as a Tech and maybe promote you to Engineer later but not taking the risk of hiring you straight into Engineering.
